I bouht one of these a week ago and I think this is on of the most ellegent and efficient laptops around today. The aspire uses a 1.4 Ghz P4 M centrino which seems alot faster than my mates 2.6 ghz P4. It has 512 Meg ram included (upgardeable to 4 Gb). The centrino has built in 11b wifi, i have it wirelessly connected throughout the house using ADSL and a wireless router. It runs quietly and the battery seems to last for ever. It has a built in Linux interface, this has been made user friendly with little pictures to click on and manages to boot in 10 secs! The Linux system can be used intead of windows just by switching on with a different button, or you can just switch on normally and windows xp loads up pretty quick. The Linux interface can be used for watching dvd's, burning CD's, listening to music or watching video/pics from your hard drive. Onboard is a 64 meg ATI graphics card which is easily enough for most games i have. The widescreen is beautifully bright and you wouldnt even hardly notice that windows is slightly squashed, if anything it looks easier on the eye than the traditional square screen and is great for watching DVD's. On the side of the machine is a DVD/CD-RW combo which works by pushing the cd half in and it does the rest (no tray). There is 3 USB2.0 ports on the back and a PCI card slot on the side.It also has firewire, infrared and bluetooth built in and a SD/MMC etc. card reader on the front. If your thinking of buying this laptop shop around the net as the price can vary by £300. Mine was £950. You wont be dissapointed, this laptop looks like something special and I'm very happy with mine.
