I puchased my Acer 2920 last year (2008) because of its small size and powerful promise.... I needed a pc that was light, very portable & easily stowable as I travel constantly and have to deal with e-mail, manage my database, design advertisements and create flyers while on the move. I use cross channel ferryboats every week and this gives me a lot of time to compute onboard. I made the right choice with the Acer 2920 and I just hope that when i ever have to replace it, I get a laptop as good.
I must add, I have had laptops since 1995. I have had two Toscheba's, three IBM thinkpads, and this is my forth Acer laptop. My Acers in my opinion have been better, but I aso appreciate that technology has moved on since my first 386 B/W Tosch !
I carry it about in an old Targus case, because i cant seem to find a snug case that it can fit into properly, there are lots of 15" cases but no 12" cases in our local pc shops. I now see 10" cases for the Acer 'one' and such, but no 12".
It has a Bluetooth button, but no bluetooth. While it isn't exactly the end of the world, I would have liked the facility.
Its wireless is fantastic and i connect anywhere without any issues... Although i have mobile 3g dongles for various countries, i also use the free hot spots all over europe when i can.... Connection with this pc is a doddle.....open it up, it discovers the wireless router and it connects.....have been well impressed..
My pet hate is that, it should be (and all laptops) supplied with a cigarette lighter socket charger as standard, it is portable after all and lots of people carry laptops in cars....! I have to carry an inverter, to charge it in the vehicle.
Overall, an absolute bargain, with power to spare, a 250 GB hard drive, and ample graphics power, hooked up to a good intel core 2 T5450 processor...
I use the followng programs with ease: Office 2007 suite with Outlook & business contact manager, Corel draw 8 including Photo Paint, Publisher, Excel, Powerpoint, One note, Garmin Mapsource, Sage programs including ACT database and more... + plus games.
The internet is fast, and i use Google earth and gaming programs with ease, even when you end up with a screen full of open windows...it is still quite quick...lol
I am very satisfied, even one year on..... I would heartily reccomend the Acer 2920.... (writing this review on it)
