(+) Looks good. Battery life around 4 hours. Keeps your legs warm on cold days! (-) Audio crackle. Gets too hot. Screen viewing angle restrictive. Slow to start.
Advantages: Cheap, Reasonably Powerful, Looks Good Disadvantages: Short Battery Life, Poor Graphics, Widescreen Case but NOT a wide screen
The Acer Aspire was one of the cheapest laptops that I could find when I looked into purchasing a basic laptop for my school work earlier this year. In fact, it was the cheapest model that Acer made, and it shows in the features that it has, and doesn't have.
It features a nice bright 15 inch screen that is good for watching movies, viewing pictures and general internet surfing. However, the model above features a great glossy LCD that is perfect ... ...Unfortunately, like many manufacturers, Acer has used the similar case for many of its' laptops including the model above with the widescreen, therefore, the case is quite wide in comparison to the standard style (squarer) screen.
Networking. Nowadays with the internet and all, access and connectivity is paramount when choosing a laptop. Unfortunately, unlike its' older brothers, the Acer Aspire 3003lc only features wired networking (you have to ...

...I have an older ACEr laptop that has stood up well to my abuse so I had no qualms about quality.
It arrived, well packaged and I took it out to make sure all was well and to set it up, so that she could use it straight out ogf the box when the great day comes. I was more than impressed when I unwrapped it, It is slimline, has a large screen and benefits from having an AMD processor, rather than the dull and slightly ubiquitous Intel chips that, ... ...side by side with my Acer Travelmate (which she is currently hogging!!) I am now officially jealous and want one for me. OK, it doesn't burn DVDs, doesn't have a built in card reader, and doesn't have a 250 Gig Hard drive, but then it was less than £400!! all those featues ccan be added if required, a card reader that plugs into one of the USB ports is about a fiver, if she needs to archive any data there's a CD burner. She can watch DVDS, in fact ...

Pros
Impressive Memory Storage - The 40 GB hard drive is plentiful for any casual laptop user, and has stored more than enough music and videos to keep me company at university
LCD Screen - The 15" LCD screen is really sharp and has a nice contrast to it.

The only person that I feel would not be particularly suited to the Acer Aspire would be people that enjoy PC video gaming. I think that the processing power of this laptop would simply be overwhelmed by the new PC gaming.
I hope this review provides some insight into the Acer Aspire 3003 LC even if I haven't gone into too much depth in terms of technological details.

Acer Aspire 3003LC - Mobile Sempron 3000+ 1.8 GHz - 15" TFT
Other than the word "Acer" I bet the newbie buyer hasn't got a clue what the rest of the above means. In fact trudging round Currys, Comet and PC World looking for a laptop, the descriptions may as well have been in ancient Greek. The fact is that, other than the price, there is almost no understandable information available from manufacturers and retailers. Shop assistants, if and when ... ...recommendation.
At home the Acer started first time and Windows Vista was welcoming and straight forward to set up. In fact we expected to have to load discs but this has now been done away with. In fact the whole experience was painless. I guess there are two points here. 1. Like a car, if you don't know much about mechanics, your choice becomes one based on looks and mention of "0 to 60 in 10" must mean it's good. So with the Acer. "Sempron3000" ...

Advantages: Light, slim and fast. Disadvantages: Hour's power standalone
Ordered this unit direct from the manufacturer. Paid about £15 less than quoted, was given 4 working days for arrival and arrived in my office in 2!
Was impressed as soon as I pulled it out of the box, Really slim silver design and gutsy 15" screen. Was ready to boot straight out of the box and no charging necessary which was useful. Got it home and had a good look round and was impressed to find the memory panel, when removed, not only has space ... ...so I will be adding a wireless Mini PCI card shortly.
Not too impressed with memory supplied but I suppose for a few extra pounds, I can make it a really meaty machine bar the obvious power restraints. This is a real Desktop replacement.
Boots really quickly and able to respond with several requests running at once - and that is only with 194mb of RAM available... Preinstalled with the usual Works etc and the addition of Norton Antivirus which ...

A great buy!
Having used computers for years but never having bought one of my own or being very 'technically' minded I had no clue what kind of a laptop I needed or wanted. Basically I just wanted something stylish to use the internet on at home! I more
I for one, absolutely love the look of this acer. The bottom of the laptop just looks really cool, and the top looks ok too. One only criticism on the look, would be that the plastic at the tip of the screen is a little thick, but then again it does have more
