display- while not the biggest of displays the image is crisp and clear and is big enough to have several windows open at the same time it does take a while to get used to the widescreen format especially when playing games but this soon fades with use.the brighness size can be adjusted to user preferences and the display is of a high quality for a budget laptop

Processor- Once again an impressive processor for a budget laptop that will easily handle modern softwareand the memory and processor windows vista operating system,it will easily run most software and virtually all the latest games but maybe lacks the speed you would get with a dual core variant

Graphics- again a decent steady graphics set-up that will easily handle all but the most graphic intensive software.ati are known for delivering reliable hardware that performs well and is great at saving battery power.this is a excellent card for a budget laptop.

Hard drive- This model comes with a 80 gb drive that is a good size to help store all your digital data and is well suited for helping to save power it is also surprisingly quiet for a budget model variant.With the popularity of External usb models upograding is now very simple should you run out of storage space

Optical drive- This model has a combo drive that will allow the use od both standard dvd's and dual layered dvd's which is great for future proofing and wth support for cd-rw and dvd-rw,the drive is smooth and quiet in operation

Memory- 1ghz this size of memory is what i would usually recommend with the memory intensive windows vista operating system and there is the option of upgrading to 4ghz which is great if needed for future use.Once again the emory allows smooth operation of the software and will allow for great performance whatever you wish to do.

WLAN- The laptop comes with a built in wi-fi adapter which is an essential piece of kit in the wireless world and will give you true mobility both at home and on the move.It is very easy to set up and i had no problems in connecting to several different types of connections.you also have a hotkey on the front of the laptop that allows you to easily turn off the adapter to save power when not in use

5 in 1 card reader- This is more commonly becoming a standard feature on most computers and laptops and will allow the transfer of digital data to and from any digital product that utilises digital media.Again this is all set up and is very easy to use with all media automatically detected when inserted.

Power- This is probably the biggest let down of this laptop with battery power not lasting that long when you have all the features turned on.I was getting on average 1.5 hours of use from the battery.There are some useful power saving features bt i feel they could have offered a more powerful battery pack.

Operating system-This model comes with windows vista home premium version,this is both easy to use and very stable and ties in well with the features that this product offers.(i will not go into to much detail about the o/s as this would be a seperate review)

Weight- not the lightest of laptops but acceptable for the price,the outer casing is well designed and the product feels well made and of a higher quality than the price tag would have you believe.

SUMMARY
A feature packed great performing laptop for the price,there have been corners cut to deliver this budget product but if you can accept a product that is a reliable performer then this is the product.Beware this is not a high end performer and is best suited for someone who wants good performance for the smallest price tag.
Advantages: Fine for Vista, Lightweight, Superb Screen, Easy to use, Disadvantages: Battery Life is only really average, Casing can get scratched easily :(
...My sister has an Acer 3682WXMi, and I really didn't think much of it, but I am mighty impressed with this one! It's a tad smaller and lighter and easier to carry around with me. It's got 1Gb RAM, an 80Gb Hard-drive, DVD/RW, wi-fi, 3 x 2.0 USB ports and a 5-in-1-card-reader.
It came with Vista Home Premium pre-installed, all you had to do is input your details and it pretty much does the rest for you. You also get Norton for a 90 Day Subscription, ... ...you to register it with Acer and Norton if you want.
There were a few issues I encountered, but I think this is more Vista than the actual Laptop. Firstly, Acer's eData Security application clashed with Windows Live Messenger (As a student I find it essential as a distraction), and the reccommended solution was to download a patch from the Acer website - this was unavailable, but I've since found out many Vista users have issues with the latest ...

...licence, and lots of useless Acer software that I uninstalled without even finding out what it was. It seems slightly useless having Windows MCE as there is no TV Tuner, and I can't get the S-Video Out to work. The Acer Aspire 50501AWXMi is a very good laptop for the money, and I would recommend it for surfing the internet, listening to music and watching videos. It plays games, but not aswell as a desktop for the same price would. ...

I bought this laptop for £299 from Ebuyer in the June sale they have at the moment as i was looking a cheap good quality laptop to do my web design with. The machine itself came with Windows Vista which is appauling, total 'bloat ... ...the laptop to the point it was nearly killing it and seemed to be ticking away with things in the background even when the machine itself was doing nothing. So the first thing I did was install my Windows XP disc and wow did this make a difference. The machine was a beast, fast, excellent response rate and it made a huge improvement to what Vista did to it!
The laptop came with 512MB ram, and it was fine with XP but i decided to add 1GB to it and ...

...got lines down it. Phoned ACER up who informed me it was down to it being dropped or something being put on top of it, which is not what happend the lines just appeared as someone was working on them and got worse. They said i could send it back and they would charge me around £200 to repair it the thing only cost me £250. If you want cheap and cheerful then this is the one. But when it fails beware of the warranty its is not worth anything and the ...

Advantages: Extremely reliable, good value for money, has a nice feeling keyboard. Disadvantages: Feels cheap, not so good processor, a laughable battery life.
I've had this laptop for over a year now (A year and a half) and have encountered no significant problems whatsoever. Let me just fill in some detail here:
I use this laptop for around 5 hours (usually more) every day. That's a lot of usage for a year and a half. I have gotten chocolate in the motherboard, cracked the plastic surrounding the screen in the bottom left corner so that it won't close properly (Quite hard to explain), and I have hoovered ... ...clear it out.
I run multiple programs (Firefox - 15 tabs, uTorrent, WinSCP, Mirc UPP, Windows Live messenger, NOD32, KeyScrambler, and Magic Disk is what I am running at the moment, while typing this review on the same laptop).
I think this is fairly amazing for a 'budget' laptop. It's extreme reliability by far makes up for the not exactly high speed processor or the lack of RAM. The screen isn't that big either, but what are you expecting? For ...
