I just purchased this machine 2 weeks ago and I must say I have been extremely impressed with it so far. Its performance is quick, the machine is stylish and it has great usability. Overall, its a great piece of kit...
I bought this laptop for £299 from Ebuyer in the June sale they have at the moment as i was looking a cheap good quality laptop to do my web design with. The machine itself came with Windows Vista which is appauling, total 'bloat ware'. In my experience I found vista was slowing down the laptop to the point it was nearly killing it and seemed to be ticking away with things in the background even when the machine itself was doing nothing. So the first thing I did was install my Windows XP disc and wow did this make a difference. The machine was a beast, fast, excellent response rate and it made a huge improvement to what Vista did to it!
The laptop came with 512MB ram, and it was fine with XP but i decided to add 1GB to it and it increased its speed by about 400% you could notice the difference. It was easy to install, cheap off the internet and def worth upgrading if your a heavy user to dramatically increase perfomance.
I tried the laptop with a game to see how it responded and i was very impressed considering the price i paid for it, it played the game (star trek) with no problems, didnt jump, freeze, nothing. The laptop is also HD which itself is amazing, and crystal clear. Have not played a HD DVD yet to see how it copes but not worried as its handled everything i have through at it so far without problems...
If your looking for a good performer, decent laptop at an affordable price then i would certainly recommend this one. Whether you just want it to surf the net, play games, watch dvds anything go for it.
Only thing i can fault the laptop for it battery life, but thats expected with most laptops and a spare battery is cheap enought and if you in the house keep it plugged in the mains anyway. Another let down is the speakers, compared to apple laptops they are not where near as good but considering it outshines in all other areas this can be forgiven.
As with most windows machines, it takes a few mins to boot up which is quicker when more memory added but this is more to do with windows and probably because i have been used to macs so long. I would of bought a mac but found the price way too expensive, and after getting this one i am happy.
The machine came well packed, and the user manuals easy to read and follow and came with all you need to get started!
