Advantages Advantages Fast, great-looking and a gorgeous bright screen for viewing dvds

Disadvantages Disadvantages Standard battery and not great for games

This is a medium sized laptop with a 15'6" screen and a gorgeous dark-blue and fairly robust exterior frame. Acer are well known as being a cheaper alternative brand from the Sony's and Packard Bell's of the world, but have a mixed reputation in terms of how well they deliver when it comes to their laptops. I'm pleased to be able to say that the Acer Aspire 5536 lives up to the hype, and is a well produced and easy to use laptop. PRESENTATION ----------------------- As you would expect from a low priced machine, you have the basics but the top end of the basics. It looks stunningly smart but ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast, decent size screen, memory

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery life, reliability?, heavy, dodgy mouse-touchpad (synaptics device)

The Acer Aspire is a great laptop for anyone that wants excellent hard drive memory as it holds up to 500GB. It operates on 3/4GB RAM which provides for an excellent speed whilst having a variety of programs open. The processor is AMD Turion x2 64 technology operating at 2.2GHz which basically means it'll run at a decent speed for you. However if you want the computer to run at a faster level, there is a high performance mode that can applied. Although the downside of this is that understandably the battery life isn't as good. In fact, the battery life is probably the biggest disapointment, as ... more

Advantages Advantages 15.6" HD screen, good audio quality, price.

Disadvantages Disadvantages short battery life, temperature

Acer decided to add an extra Aspire Gemstone Blue model laptop. I was lucky to get a hold of him as my friend purchased it, and I was using it for a while, he asked me to install some software and configure his Vista so the notebook going to work properly. The first touch was a surprise I expected it’s going to weight more than 2.8 kg, it’s a really light notebook, and thanks to its glossy sapphire-blue Gemstone cover and intricately textured palmrest it’s a pleasure to touch it. I opened it and, I have thought nothing new inside, which is actually good because you don’t need to get used to ... more

    * - AMD Athlon processor QL-64 * - (2.1Ghz, 1MB Cache) mhz Processor speed * - Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium * - 4GB Memory * - 320 GB Hard Drive * - Webcam * - Dolby Sound Room * - Up to 3 hours battery life I have recently bought this computer and those are the specs above. The computer is very good for its price as it has a fast dual core 2.1ghz processor (which means you have 2 processors both each at 2.1ghz speed = 4.2ghz of processing power; VERY fast). It has really good graphics where I was able to easily play the latest games, such as Fifa 10 on my laptop. The battery life on ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast, light, excellent features, AWESOME value for money

Disadvantages Disadvantages You need to upgrade to 64bit Windows to utilise the 4GB RAM.

For a sub £500 laptop, this little Acer beauty will impress. I bought one of these recently after looking through all the usuals such as Dell, Compaq and Toshiba and for the money, this one beats the rest hands down. I ended up going to Currys as they had the best deal available - I would recommend getting the 4GB of RAM and then upgrading to Windows 7 64bit as the 32bit version bundles with most laptops only utilises 2GB of memory. The look and feel of this laptop is outstanding - I particularly like the dark blue finish and the smooth trackpad. It also has a numberpad which you won't find on ... more
