Acer was a brand name which I haven't really heard of, as maybe you haven't as well, but they definitely set a great example of cramming a lot of technology into a portable laptop without it costing a bomb like other leading brands.

It has a good battery life with an amazing dual - core processor.Acer was a brand name which I haven't really heard of, as maybe you haven't as well, but they definitely set a great example of cramming a lot of technology into a portable laptop without it costing a bomb like other leading brands. The speed of this laptop is absolutely great! Without doubt it's definitely the core duo processor that does its job brilliantly: A very responsive computer and it speeds through applications and hardly any battery power is used up. It is helped by the astounding 1Gigabyte of DDR2 RAM - which would normally cost somewhat over a £1000 when included in laptops, however in this laptop it certainly is a magnificent feature for an economically priced laptop. The looks of this laptop is really fantastic and incredibly thin as well - just what we want… rather than the previous large bulky Toshiba laptop I used to use one or two years ago. And it weighs approximately 2.8kg…. just a bit under 3 bags of sugar if you can imagine it like that - Surely it's great value for money. The screen is an adequate 15" (diagonally) and has fantastic vibrant and vivid colours although the screen is quite reflective so the best thing to do as stated below in this review is to adjust the brightness and contrast settings, or what I tend to do is just tilt the screen back and forth to reduce the amount of light reflecting off the screen. But more consideration needs to be taken when handling the laptop in particular because the screen is very fragile and the back of the screen doesn't seem to be very strong at all. It in fact seems to curve and bend easily which could easily ruin and seriously damage the display if you were to handle it incorrectly. My best advice if buying this laptop is to find a really secure case to go with it and make sure it's strong enough to not even affect the screen in any other way.The battery lasts approximately, on average, 3 hours which is reasonable, at least you can watch the full length of a DVD if you need to unless it's something like one of the Lord of the Ring's trilogy, then your probably best leaving the laptop on charge. Now the screen is a bit shiny to say it's a laptop screen, and is quite reflective although it's really not a major problem, I suppose it depends what kind of room you're sitting in, but the best thing to do is just turn the brightness down when you buy the laptop or just play around with the contrast and brightness settings until the view suits you. This laptops wireless networking chip supports all three current Wi-Fi standards, so you can connect this 5612 to any wireless network - Great! And games are not really much of an issue because the Intel GMA 950 graphics will not run many modern 3D titles. In terms of hard disk space you have a huge 80 Gigabyte storage of space which would probably take me forever to use up anyway. But in comparison to my laptop I've had previously, which held a mere 18 Gigabyte of data, this Acer 5612 just doesn't even compare as its memory is astounding. The keyboard is relatively easy to use with fairly large keys for easy typing and the mouse buttons are quite strong and the touch pad is like any other, you would find on a laptop. The laptop has a DVD writer which works great. 4 USB ports which is great connecting the most basic of hardware such as printer, digital camera, iPod, or other things like that, an Ethernet port and a type II PC card slot towards the front. And the charger lead enters at the back of the laptop, conveniently. This laptop is just to put it simply- a must have! With prices ranging from £680 to £800, it is certainly a great laptop for its astounding speed and features. The screen is great although slightly reflective, but this is not really a major factor as you just need to make sure you look after it properly and don't damage the screen due to the weakness of the back - but if anything does go wrong you've always got the one year international warranty although you shouldn't really need to use this.Well I'm impressed at such a bargain price you can have this laptop. Simply buy online - it's probably the best, cheapest and quickest way to get this laptop sitting in your house. Thanks for reading this review and please give a rating and comment if possible.
