...I purchased my AcerAspire 5920G from Comet. So much for cutting prices. The laptop itself is cool, it's fairly fast, easy to use and really portable. The 15.4" inch screen is the perfect size. The laptop comes with the useful Acer Empowering software. Highly recommended laptop, the only problems I have had is with the sometimes buggy Vista. The keyboard isn't the best but I haven't had any problems with it. the touch sensitive media buttons on the right of the keyboard are too sensitive and i often end up touching them and opening the program by mistake. the Acer is fitted with superfast wireless with the inclusion of 802.11n. It also has a card reader and a camera. The laptop is great, lots of features, Acer have really pushed the boat out on this. A lot of people have been critical of the styling however I find it quite refreshing....

Advantages: Portable, easy to use, low priced, fast Disadvantages: Slightly reflective screen, sometimes sensitive touchpad buttons, flashing WAN button, not the best keyboard
...I purchased my AcerAspire 5920 laptop from PC World. No problems with the laptop but the service at PC World is appauling so I would not recommend buying the laptop from PC World. They also put the price up for the laptop three days after I purchased the laptop. So much for cutting prices.
The laptop itself is brilliant, it's fairly fast, easy to use and really portable. The 15.4" inch screen is the perfect size but it is slightly reflective so if you're planning to use it in high light intensity you may have problems. The Acer laptop comes with the useful Acer Empowering software. Highly recommended laptop, the only problems I have had is with the sometimes buggy Vista.
The keyboard isn't the best but I haven't had any problems with it. The touchpad buttons can sometimes cause programs to open up but that can easily be solved...

Advantages: works well with most programs Disadvantages: Not windows compatible
...The Acer 3100 / 3102 has a memory problem with address 0 randomly being reset to all zeroes. This is easily verified by downloading Microsofts Windows memory diagnostic, or any other memory diagnostic. Acer knows about the motherboard problem and will do nothing for you. This will show up as an occasional blue screen of death when using programs that address large amounts of memory. Acer service and support will tell you that if it boots then it is not a problem, they do not care that you get some BSOD's.
On the positve side you get great range with the WiFi. The USB ports are fast and will easily support external hard drives and burners working together.
On the negative side the crystal brite display is like a mirror, and any light behind you makes viewing the display difficult....

In choosing a laptop I went through a number of thought processes. Having previously had a desktop I was frustrated by the fact that I always had to go to it, I had to put it on a desk and I had to vacuum around it !

Well now as I have said before I am not a very 'techie' kind of girl but I thought well I've got a new laptop and I have got quite a bit to say about it so what the hell. For any real technical minded people out there I apologise profusely now!!
