"The 'one' to (maybe) buy..."

My sapphie acer aspire.

My sapphie acer aspire.

so this computer (which i am writing on now) is not the largest of products. It doesn't really cope with the amount of tabs i have open in my "Opera" web browser either. But what i do know is that it becomes one of the easiest things to use since UN-sliced bread.

When you turn it on it doesn't make a fancy noise like all Vista/Windows 7 systems do, as it runs on the Original Master "Windows XP" which works a treat. It is simple yet elegant and can cope with every day things like Microsoft Office, windows media/movie maker and a bunch of other relatively "cool" programs. However, these are not all at first installed on your computer and have to retrieve them off of the Internet with the completely dismal "Internet Explorer" (whoop i forgot the "8") which is a blow.

As a first time Acer customer I found the surprisingly acceptable customer service as being rather comforting. As my computer had suffered a head injury and had to be sent to the acer hospital for treatment, it returned no longer blue screened but completely fine. Which in my opinion was a miracle (however much damage i may have done).

This computer runs on an Intel Atom processor (mainly because any other would destroy the computer completely) and comes with poor graphics and sound cards which you can't update. And a monster amount of memory that I didn't even believe was possible on this "8.5 inch screen".

Being small, the computer has many "ups".

- It fits into small spaces
- Incredibly Portable
- Can be well hidden
- Used on just about any flat surface (please refrain from using "someone else" as your flat surface")
- Fit's comfortably on any size, shape, person OR animal.

And it's many "downs"

- Bloody Keyboard is too small.
- No large person can press the power button with out damaging the computer entirely.
-90% of the time it doesn't want to shut up.
- touch pad isn't large enough.

All the keys are placed in awkward positions as well. The back-space button is smaller than the number 5 and whenever i want to "ESC" ape it tells me to ask it a question, to which I reply "Escape please" and return with no prevail.

Another Major drawback is it's start up time, which takes a paint-drying space of 2m 32 seconds out of my boring life and 2m 32 seconds out of battery. On a whole the battery life would sustain any short flight to Spain. 2 hours exactly isn't enough to survive on but if worked at correctly can be a fairly LONNNGGG 2 hours.

If you threw this computer on the ground; yes it would break. The keys are rather weak as well; many of mine came off after one small hammering. To which i had to send it back in for repairs. The rest of it seems to be working well though; aside from the one or two random jam's in the keyboard.

Being a cheap £250, you would expect the saying "Cheap and Cheerful" to come into effect. Which fortunately, it doesn't. It is well worth the buy AND you get full use of the "Acer Crystal Eye" web cam that comes integrated with the machine (that doesn't have a "Take video function" and only works as a massive camera)

Unfortunately due to the measly size of the machine, there was no room to place a disk drive. So i had to purchase an "External" DVD/CD drive, which worked well via USB. As a "Universal Serial Bus" port, they don't last long, and can become damaged after long and rigorous use proven by the message that pops up on the screen that says "Your USB item may be damaged or broken." which they weren't.

On the whole the Acer Aspire One - AB 110 is an essential piece of kit for a budding traveler (or a un-budding) traveler and for it's price, lives up to the rest of the "Aspire" name.
