I purchased this laptop for my wife to do do her training work on, also she didn't want to carry my luggable! We went for the 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD Linux model in Blue for about £250.
Out of the box its a good looking machine, the glossy blue finish is nice, but instantly prone to fingerprint marks. It feels well built and durable. I comes with what some would call a protective sleeve, in a way it does protect but really all it protects is from dirt, it wouldn't protect it from any knocks or drops.
The Linux Operating System is in my opinion VERY basic and highly kneecapped compared to what Linux can be, although there are guides on the internet to unlock more of its potential. But having said that it is also very easy to use. Personally she tried it but didn't like it having be bought up on Micro$oft like most people, so i ended up installing XP on it (a challenge without a CD drive but that's another story).
I think would ideally suit anyone who hasn't used a computer before. If you are one of the majority who have had Micro$oft thrust upon you then go for the Windows version, unless you have the time and patience to install it yourself.
There are 2 SD card slot on this machine, the one on the left hand side is intended for the the version of this laptop with SSD to expand the storage capacity. Stick an SD card in and leave it sort of thing.
The other slot on the right hand side can cope with a few different formats, including SD and this is intended as your normal card reader, say from a digital camera where you take the pictures off and remove the card.
The screen is clear and evenly lit, although I've experienced a slight flickering when running off battery and therefore lower brightness, this is solved by increasing the brightness (but obviously reduces battery life)
The battery is disappointing compares to the likes of the ASUS EEPC it is only i think 2200mwh, will last about 2 hours on a full charge, however it should be possible to get a bigger 6600mwh battery at extra cost.
Performance is excellent, even though it is only a 1.6GHz CPU and 1 GB of RAM Windows XP Pro and the Linux OS fly. Office 2007 is quick and responsive.
I can't think what else to write about it, its cheap no frills, does the job, machine. It will suit anyone on a tight budget wishing to start out on the internet, it will also suit those out on the move a lot but i do recommend getting the better battery if this is the case, or those who want a light portable computer.
For approx £250 you cant go wrong, unless you do gaming!
Appendix A: In response to a comment, yes I agree these aren't ideal for use as a main PC. For the price they are an excellent introduction before shelling out for a bigger one.
I find these mini laptops a bit gimmicky and couldn't use one for prolonged working. They're handy for travelling but it is an accesory rather than a main PC.
