The computer comes ready built in with a DVD-RW that proves to be a brilliant way for backing up ones DVD's.
I have found that the 512MB of RAM enables me to run several applications at once whilst the computer continues to run reliably and with relatively few of those annoying occasions where the system decides to freeze.
With some of the ports now located at the front of the computer, this enables rapid connection of peripherals such as speakers and with the inclusion of a card reader; enables data transfer of digital files.

Advantages: Inexpensive, stylish looks, easily upgradeable Disadvantages: Rubbish speakers, could have more RAM
...and word processing on the Acer machine.
Not long after I got it, I did upgrade the RAM, but that's easy and cheap to put another 1GB in yourself from eBay, only costs around £40. I also upgraded the video card for around £100, but then you've got a good processor, high enough RAM to run Windows Vista and good games and also a good graphics card to be able to play games at higher resolutions, but still the computer and the upgrades is a lot less ... ...good brand and have been getting better over the years and they do built inexpensive, but good quality machines. My Aspire T120e did me very good for a number of years and is still going strong with someone else.
The only bad point is the rubbish speakers (although nicely powered by USB so no need for an extra power socket) mine never worked out of the box, but I wouldn't use them anyway cos they don't have much power. I bought the Packard Bell ...

if your after a system for surfing the web or letting kids do their home work then its value for money however if you want somthing to maybe play games on then avoid or be prepared to spend more money on upgrades straight away as i did.... ...

Advantages: Good sized monitor, compact case, cheap but nice Disadvantages: Not enough RAM, hard drive too small
A nice computer, with good sounding specifications but lacks enough RAM to be a fast or heavy usage computer. The sound quality from the included speakers is poor and crackly, and the included keyboard and mouse are cheap and flimsy. Included CD-RW included in this model is of good quality, with excellent reading and writing times on all supported formats, and in over a year of usage, I have not had a single hard ware fault, showing just how sturdy ... ...with the default model are rectifiable if you are prepared to spend around an extra £100 on an extra hard drive, more RAM and a new keyboard, mouse and speakers. But for the price of this computer, you wouldn't expect much more, and similar spec computers are more expensive from other leading brands. Altogether, a good budget PC, but better ones are available, if you're prepared to spend just a bit more. ...

Advantages: good looks/ ideal for office Disadvantages: medium to low performance
Look i'm just going to tell you one thing this defenetly isn't the good all though it has some advantages from the new computers, so let's analize:
-it is some where between the good and the bad -it has ATA 133 for 133MB/s which is pretty good
-a 40 GB HDD which is sort of small so it is not for gamers it is only good for office
- a medium procesor AMD XP 2400+ which is let's say acceptable
-the 256MB of DDR are defenetly not enaugh for gammers ... ...i realy like is the AGP 8x wich is defenetly for gamers.
-because it is a office computer i would recomend windows XP professional not home edition
In the end this is an office computer good for acounting and things like that but don't buyet if you are a gamer and want to "put the pedal to the metal" . ...

Advantages: Very reasonably priced Disadvantages: Needs RAM upgrade to run XP and warranty void if case opened.
...I bought this as a gift. The specs were fine apart from it needing the extra RAM. It has a AMD Sempron 2800+ processor which runs at 2.0 Ghz. It comes with 256MB RAM, onboard graphics and sound a built in card reader that reads XD cards as well as the usual. This model has a CDRW (there are several variations) It also comes with matching speakers powered by USB and a keyboard. They aren't great build quality but perfect for my needs. The case ... ...is one spare RAM bay available as well other expansion options.
It started up very quickly, after a short burst from the hard drive it ran very quietly. I set the PC up and made the recovery software as prompted. No office, AV or firewall (apart from XP's) was bundled with this but wasn't advertised with it so can't complain.
Unfortunatley after no more than 15 hours(?) of use the hard drive died. As I had opened the case I had voided the warranty. ...
