Excellent product for those of us who can't (and don't want to ) pay for top of the range and who want a reliable laptop with all the essentials. Good for work, for viewing dvds, internet and for carrying around. It's robust and has proved itself to be 8 year old boy proof. If I have any criticism, it's the battery. It doesn't seem to last any length of time. Perhaps I am over using it but it only seems to last a few hours. The sound isn't great but I think that's a personal issue rather than one that would bother other people. I would recommend this to students and any of you who want a better than basic machine that'll do pretty much anything you ask it to do at a reasonable speed.

(+) cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7 (-) few connectors, dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!
Hi - thank you for your comments. I deliberately avoided the technical specs etc mostly because they don't really mean very much to me - I am pretty much technically illiterate and because that information is accessible elsewhere. My spec when I went to the shop was 'I need Office, I use the internet, we watch dvds and listen to music. Occasionally I play games.I am skint. What would you recommend?'
Now that I know what is expected I will make more of an effort to decipher the information books.
Thanks again

I'm actually looking for a new laptop currently. Sadly your review leaves out the all important criteria of technical specs cost, stockists etc. If you edit the review please let me know, this is an item I am seriously interested in. I'll happily re-read/re-rate. Linda x
