This laptop is from the leading laptop manufacturer at the moment which is Acer. They have only recently in the past few years become better known for their laptops and desktops and because of their good customer service great laptops and all at a cheap price they are now at selling other companies like dell and Sony at laptops.

This one is the Acer Extensa 5620-1A1G12Mi. The Acer extensa is a really new model of laptop from Acer and there have already been quite a few introduced by Acer in the past month. They have been working on this new type of laptop for quite a while now and there will be a lot more laptops to come out of the extensa model.

Its basically a follow up from the Acer aspire however the aspires were made mainly to keep at home and for a laptop to use around the house. These new extensa models though are not only made or that but also incorporate the design specification of the older travel mate models so that they are also quite portable so really it gives you the opportunity to use your laptop for whatever you want to use it for.

It terms of looks then a lot really hasn’t changed and I think that it could have looked a lot better. Its all one colour which is black and just looks a little dull and boring in my opinion.
Also the design is just like some of the older travel mates and some of the acer aspires so I would have liked to see a new style of laptop born for there new extensa range.

It also has a quite ordinary amount of ram at only 1gb which makes the laptop run quite fast however when trying to run games this laptop was just useless on most of them and it even didn’t run videos off the internet that well either.
So most of you would want to put at least another gig in there which you fortunately can do. You can usually buy a gig of ram off the internet now for about £15 and just easily install it into your laptop. Well with this one you can install a maximum of 4 gb of ram in need be which would certainly make it a lot faster.

A little better than average though is its installed hard drive which comes in at 120 gb, this is definitely enough for me and should be for most people and I would have expected this laptop to only have 80gb of hard drive seen as it only has the basic 1gb of ram.

In terms of extra features it pretty good, it has a built in 5 in 1 card reader which can read any of SD Memory Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, MultiMediaCard, xD-Picture Card. This is quite handy to have even if you don’t use it that often it will save you buying one in the future.

So I mentioned that its quite portable, I mean it wasn’t built specifically for this but it can be carried around a bit. It weighs just under average at 2.9kg so its not too heavy to carry around although if you needed this with you all day every day then id think about getting something a little lighter and smaller.
It is the normal size for a laptop and has a normal average 15.4" TFT screen, so obviously if you do need something more portable you might have to compromise on a smaller screen.
Battery life is also pretty good and it will last you about 3 hours, which is pretty good and is about the most you can get out of a laptop without paying a fortune for an ultra portable machine.

The main reason why this laptops good isn’t because it can be taken out places and also used at home, it isn’t because its quite fast and has good extra features but its because of how cheap it is. Its only £400 at the moment and I have no doubts that it will drop in price quite soon.
