This laptop is the Acer Extensa 5620-1A2G12Mi. The extensa is a new model from acer and although they have been working on it for over a year now it wasn’t until a few months ago that these laptops went on sale. I still don’t think that it’s a brand of acer laptops that most people will be familiar with yet however I think it will grow and they will get better and more and more people will buy them just like what happened with the travel mate and the aspires.
Its basically a follow up from the Acer aspire however the aspires were made mainly to keep at home and for a laptop to use around the house. These new extensa models though are not only made or that but also incorporate the design specification of the older travel mate models so that they are also quite portable so really it gives you the opportunity to use your laptop for whatever you want to use it for.

This one looks a bit different from previous acer laptops and also some other acer extensas, I think the reason for this is that it’s a bit more portable than the other ones so perhaps that’s why they have changed the design for it so you can tell it’s a portable one.
It looks kind of rounded and the base going in at the sides makes it appear really thin and sleek.
It is just one colour though, black which makes it appear a bit dull but it doesn’t look terrible and actually looks kind of modern.

The main reason why this is so fast is its very large amount of ram built into it. This laptop has 2 gb of ram which handles loading up and the running of all those demanding programs you might need to use when on the move.
The great thing about this laptop is that over time, if your laptop becomes slower, which they all seem to do. You can always upgrade the ram to a massive 4 gb’s. this is an option that a lot of people wont ever do, however its there if you want it and it really would increase your laptops performance dramatically.

It also has a good 120 gb hard drive which I think will do most people and would certainly do me. You will be able to store quite a lot on a 120 gb hard drive so I wouldn’t worry about this at all.

Most laptops this portable have smaller screens. This is so that the battery life is prolonged because there’s not as much screen to light up and also because it makes the laptop lighter and smaller too.
This one however has a average of a normal, non portable laptop. It has a 15.4" TFT active matrix screen, yet it still only weighs 2.9 kg and has an pretty good amount of battery life too.
It can last you for about 3 hours which is a lot better than most laptops and recently battery life for laptops has just increased and increased.

In terms of extra features it does have a 5 in 1 card reader built into it which can read any of, SD Memory Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, MultiMediaCard, xD-Picture Card.
It also has Acer 3DSonic stereo speakers which are great for playing music on as well as if your watching videos or anything else that might need sound. They are quite a good quality of speakers and do go very loud too.

In terms of is this laptop good value, I would say its extremely good value for money. Not only is is very portable but its also a very high spec laptop too, and it will cost you less than £500. It was introduced at £500 but I think its not at £450 and will possibly even drop to just £400 pretty soon which for a 2gb of ram laptop is really good value for money.
