Here is middle range middle featured notebook from Acer, with excellent built quality and having good value for money as well. Acer always keen to hold middle range budget market so that they are providing more and more models like this and off-course getting good market response also. Here I have taken a new Extensa model and I will discuss its middle range features in brief, with advantages and disadvantages also.

First of all I always use to take a look on processing machine, and here Acer has given a good multicore processor Intel Core 2 Duo T5550, with a technology of 65 nm, 2MB L2 cache and clock speed of 1.83 GHz, with 667 MHz front size bus speed. In this type of middle range laptop this processor is excellent with adequate processing speed and reasonable 2 MB of L2 cache. 65nm technology is always good to prevent over clocking problem, but the latest 45nm processor is best for that purpose but that is something costly and can't fit with budget notebook, so having this in mind Acer choose a middle way by providing 65nm technology processor.

Next important feature is its memory size with internal RAM and hard disk drive. Here RAM is more important with processor and graphics cars to provide better speed and smoother running of laptops. Here the RAM size is DDR2 SDRAM supporting up to 667 MHz of speed equaling to front size bus speed.
RAM is more important feature and as a present days 2GB RAM is essential but for good speed and better result in 3D applications and gaming experience there should be about 4GB of system memory, and this laptop also have an option to upgrade this 2Gb RAM up to 4GB maximum. So it will be better to have that RAM if you are planning to buy this laptop for better gaming experience of 3D work basis.

Another storage media is its hard disk drive and it is more or less common to all available notebooks, with 250 GB - Serial ATA and just enough to having this capacity of hard disk drive. 250 GB of space I think good for laptops but if you wants to keep more storage than u can think about external hard disk drive, which can be better choice if any DATA loss may occur in high capacity drive and you need not to recover that with spending lots of money.

Optical drive is also common and this id DVD RW, blue ray RW option is not available in this notebook because that is more costly and can't fit with middle range notebooks.

Now the superb feature of this notebook is its graphics card, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT Hyper Memory up to 1GB - PCI Express graphics card and it is providing excellent video memory to any games or applications, this card has dedicated GDDR2 SDRAM - 256 MB, and further option to share memory with RAM if required.
Purpose of this notebook is for gaming and Acer has provided better graphics for thrilling gaming experience with higher graphics capability.

Screen size also has a 17" diagonal TFT with 1440 x 900 ( WXGA+ ) resolution for better experience in gaming world .

If you are planning to have a middle range better graphics enabled laptop for gaming or 3D application than have this with upgraded 4GB of RAM, it will be best choice with reasonable price.
