I had this laptop for a while and it was the perfect machine i could ask for whilst it was mine. Before you ask, NO, i did not throw it away! i gave it to my sister and brought another desktop pc for myself.
The Design
Acer always seem to make nice looking machines in my opinion and this is no exception.The Travelmate 5520G-5A1G12 is a stylish laptop in full black casing apart from the mouse scrolling interface. I love the shiny finish and the toolbar of crystal blue quick launch buttons below the screen. It comes with a superb 15.4 inch widescreen TFT screen that is large enough for your working requirements and provides fantastic images in its 1280 by 800 resolution.
It weighs 2.9 kg which is not very much, justifying its designation as a 'travelmate' laptop for on the move people.
The Processor
It's an Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 Mobile Technology laptop. The Athlon 64 X2 is the first dual-core processor developed by AMD and features two Athlon 64 chips coupled together. It has 512 KB of front bus speed, which is how much the chip can handle on its own. This is an adequate processor for getting your work done and for downloading music, videos and movies.
Features
It has 120 GB of hard drive memory, great for a laptop, with 2 GB of RAM, which can be upgraded a further 2 GB i think. A 5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader for Secure Digital cards, MultiMedia cards, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, or xD Picture cards for general uses. The graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 7150M which is perfectly capable for a laptop and works well.
Windows Vista Home Premium comes with the laptop so as to get started right away, with installation being a doddle. It comes pre-installed with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, Windows Mail, Adobe Reader 8.0
Threeports, 1 headphones-out port and a modem connector are only a part of its connection ports. The webcam is integrated as are the speakers which both provide great service.
There are a multitude of further features that come with this laptop and make it a special machine to buy.
