travel mates are a type of laptop designed and made under the name of the computing brand acer.
They are, for all of you who do not know, specifically designed for the working people, people who need something portable, or to use for their business.

travel mates are a type of laptop designed and made under the name of the computing brand acer. They are, for all of you who do not know, specifically designed for the working people, people who need something portable, or to use for their business.
Now the design of this laptop is by no means stylish, in fact it’s the complete opposite. Its all in one colour, which I really dislike about laptops, it looks bulky and it just looks too dull and boring. This could have been made to look better by rounding off the squared corners and having a bit of colour change in their instead of the whole thing being black and boring.
This isn't the fastest laptop, but its probably the average speed most people need for doing work on. It features a Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 / 1.8 Ghz processor which runs the 1gb of installed ram pretty fast. Another great thing is that this 1gb of ram can be upgraded to 4gb which would make the whole laptop run so much faster. However, it would probably be cheaper to just get a better spec laptop rather than to buy this, then upgrade it because it can be really pricy, especially if your paying somebody else to do it.
This laptop has a nice 120 gb hard drive built into it. I think this is reasonable and will be more than enough for most peoples needs, but even if you do need more space you could easily connect a portable hard drive to one of its 4 Hi-Speed USB ports. Or you could even store data onto memory cards by using its great built in 5 in 1 card reader which supports any of, SD Memory Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, MultiMediaCard, xD-Picture Cards.
This laptop has a 15.3 inch tft screen, this screen is also active matrix, this is being used by so much more laptop manufacturers nowadays as it makes the screen lighter, therefore making the laptop lighter, is makes the image quality so much better than a normal TFT screen and it also makes the response time a lot better, which makes videos look sharper, photos look sharper and game playing look better than ever before.
I would have liked to see it have a 17 inch screen, though I suppose business men are bothered about how much battery life they can get, rather than how good the video watching capabilities are. So this laptop can run for a great 3 hours which would have been cut hugely if it was to have an 17 inch screen size.
The laptop isn’t too heavy to be carrying around, it weighs in at 2.9 kg which I suppose is about the average for a laptop, and I think if you was thinking of buying a laptop you need to take with you a lot then you should probably think about getting a lighter one as this, after a while would start to ache your arm.
Altogether, this is a good laptop for a business man to have, its easy to do work on, and it runs relatively fast as well. However I cant help but think there’s so much more they could have done to this laptop to make it better, it does have so much flaws, in its design, how it runs and I just don’t think I could buy it, so I would advise looking at a different travel mate, as there are better ones out there.
Advantages: portable Disadvantages: could have more memory
...is another one from the acer travelmate range .
Acer as a laptop company are beginig to grow, and they are now just as well know as a lot of others, but then I first saw then in shops, my first impression, and the impression of others I asked was they seemed a bit of a cheap brand, just like netto is compared to Sainsbury's. however acer have somehow seemed to change peoples minds and even managed to change my mind somehow.
If you want something ... ...would go then.
This acer has a massive 120 gb hard drive, this is just a bit more than what you would expect to be given in a quite a simple build like this is, so this is great for those of you who need the extra storage space.
The screen on this travelmate is ultra sharp, as most are nowadays, and the new technology of these screens are just making them better and better. Because this is a travelmate, and is made for business people, it comes ...

Advantages: Lots of features for the price Disadvantages: Bulky, and a short battery life
...popular. The quality keeps rising. Acer has shown this with its latest TravelMate laptop. I needed it for general work, which seemed ideal.
> What's it got? <
The 5720G model has a dark grey exterior and easy to access control. At the heart is an Intel 2GHz T7300 Core 2 Duo processor (very fast for a laptop), though I feel this is simply to make Windows Vista work on it at an acceptable performance (it comes installed with Vista Home Premium). ... ...DDR2 RAM, this should be enough to run Vista smoothly for some time to come, even if you like to run all of your applications at the same time!
Hard disk space is generous too. Its nominal 160GB capacity is enough to leave more than 125GB free for your own applications and files after Vista has taken its claim, and has a 10GB restore partition.
As for expansion ports, there are four USB ports, one mini-FireWire socket, an RJ-45 port for the Gigabit ...

Advantages: Well-rounded laptop with very good functionality, easy to use Disadvantages: Not future-proof, but what is?!
When looking for a relatively cheap but well-designed laptop, acer's travelmate series were a particular interest. Suitably powerful for multimedia applications, and generally well-equipped, with an integrated webcam, microphone and a separate graphics card. This does call on the system memory, however, and typically running windows vista will result in the system using almost half its RAM just idling...
However, having purchased a similar travelmate, ... ...transported, the battery life in 'high performance' mode is short and the other power modes are less useful.
I have experienced issues from new with the battery connection, and the seller - Kikatek, were very unhelpful. As well as not having a phone line at all - communication must take place by email - they were very unwilling to accept that the model had any fault at all... The laptop is a solid buy, just not from Kikatek! ...

Advantages: Great Graphics card, Good for both work and play, Nice design Disadvantages: No DX10 support
This laptop is good for both work and play, I have looked into this laptop extensively because I was considering buying it and am still doing so. The laptop has a good processor (core 2 duo) and a great graphics card. The graphics card has hypermemory and can support up to 1GB of graphics memory. It comes packed with the latest hardware to give it top speed and performance for its price range. It is more than capable of playing most of the new games ... ...Half Life 2. as well as been a great gaming machine it can also be used as an equally great work machine, it is capable of handling large data transfer through both network and USB connection (USB 2.0) and also be used for graphics, word processing, publishing and database.
