Advantages: Light, good specs and value for money Disadvantages: keyboard flimsy and the charger messed up within a year
Excellent specifications for the price, compared to brands such as dell and sony. The Dvd burner runs a lot slower than the given speed. The wireless connection is excellent.
The laptop gets regualar use by me and my kids, who can be quite heavy handed with the keyboard. three of the keys have fallen out. Support at Acer couldn't be bothered to reply to my e-mails regarding replacement keyboard.
Acers website is annoyingly slow at times, i did manage to find all the necessary drivers when i had to reinstall windows. Don't try to install or even run live linux cd's as it will not for some reason recognise the Dvd/cd combi and therefore not run.
The screen is also excellent. It gives a clear and crisp image.
Battery life is also poor, i have found that it will not last longer than 3 hours while doing word processing ...
Advantages: GREAT SPECS, good os, great price Disadvantages: none really... maybe too few usbs... but none really!
Acer is a reliable company, they offer good customer support an good products.
This fantastic laptop is n exeption, it offers speed, memory and great connectability, as well as a very reasonable price for what you are getting...
Now, windows vista was given a very bad press when it first came out,it had terrible connectivity problems and basically wasn't up to scratch, since then they have worked flat out to get vista back on track. Vista now for everyday computing has very little problems, it offers almost glitchless computing. Vista itself has many advantages over window - extra security - easier management of files and a more uer friendly and aestheticl pleasing feel. I am a proud user of Vista Home Premium.
Now, onto the actual computer, It really is a very high spec computer witha lot packed into a fairly small laptop ...
Advantages: Easy to use, does what it says on the tin Disadvantages: Keyboard design is awkward for some
husband thinks it's good because he knows what all the technical jargon in the specification means!
*UPDATE - October 2006*
It has now developed a fault, and as I write this I'm waiting for a courier to collect it for repair. I will further update when I know the outcome. The customer support so far has been pretty good; I only called them yesterday and they're having it collected today, but that is the company it was bought from and not Acer themselves.
*FURTHER UPDATE - October 2006*
It turned out that the power pack was faulty, which was causing the machine to do strange things! It was replaced no problem and I had my computer back within the week. ...
