Acer CD-RW / DVD-ROM combo drive

Advantages: All you need in one box
Disadvantages: Not much memory

...majority of home PC's rarely use above 20-30Gb. The downside of having large hard drives becomes apparent when you come to defragment them, the time increase can be significant. The PC comes supplied as standard with DVD ROM / CD RW allowing you to watch DVD movies on your PC. Again I have tried this and even with the standard spec it performed very well. As this is a CD-RW combo unit you can also record audio / data / video CD. As a bonus, any one concerned about costs associated with breakdowns, shouldn't be. Acer provide an impressive 3 year warranty with this particular model. The majority of manufacturers only provide 12 months. A summary of this PC would be a Mid - Low end price range. ...Screen Size: 15 inches Primary Drive: DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo Features: 10/100 LAN Card USB, Firewire Operating System WiFi Enabled Modem The DVD rom drive is very good and fast and great for recording onto disc's but I have found that over time the processer seem's to be really struggling to keep up with more than two tasks at a time. The hard drive is plenty for me to store my information but for a lot of people you would need to upgrade this to a much larger size. Overall I would not recommend this laptop really as if it wasn't for the insurance I took out it would have only lasted a year and when it comes to getting parts from Acer the insurance company had real problems. As for Acer customer service well I must say it is non-exsistant I had trouble getting it in under warranty and had to complain through Comet to get... Read review
