Acer CD-ROM Drive

Advantages: Good wifi
Disadvantages: Terrible dvd/cd burner which will fail after a few uses. Fan will fail too

...The Acer Travelmate series, particularly the 36xx range (ie 36829 with M processor is probably the worst computer on the market. After less than 10 DVD burns, the DVD burner failed. After around 2 months the cd/dvd drive stoped working completely (reading as well as writing disks). After 18 months (today) the fan is making horrible noises, and will need to be replaced. The battery life is less than 2 hours. Furthermore, and this is very important, customer support from ACER itself is zero. I ordered a 'rescue disk' by phone (none was included in the package), priced at 50 euros. It was sent recorded delivery, cash on delivery. It never arrived because they did not bother to send it. Advantages: Reliable, Expandable
Disadvantages: Long wait for Technician

...The Acer power M5 is a very reliable computer, offers expandability and also has the acer empowering software which allows you to create restore cd's and optimize your pc. After a few months however the hard drive did fail but i had no problems at all with the customer services and in two days a technician arrived, fitted a new larger hard drive and got me up and running again. Overall i have had a good experience with this computer and i find it is able to cope with day to day needs of a student and also runs most games effectively, it is very good value for money in my opinion and is a very quiet machine. I also found that the video card, although integrated is very good especially after a driver update.... Read review

...As an ICT coordinator, I've had the pleasure of using one these beauties for about 4 weeks. This is the first tablet I have used and I admit to be being impressed by both the concept and by Acer's ingenuity in combining notebook and tablet functionality. The processor is a Pentium III ULV 800. With 256MB of RAM and 30GB of hard disk space, the Windows XP tablet edition operating system works quickly and purposefully. The CD rom and floppy disk connect via the USB ports, of which there are two. There is also a firewire port! With both wired and wireless connectivity, I have used the machine with ease on our LAN. The only quirk here, is that you have to switch between the two manually with the use of a switch on the keyboard. The first impression of the machine is that it looks like a very small laptop.
