The PDA’s (personal digital assistant ) are organisers and are built to replace information on paper. Most modern PDA’s have colour screens, but few come with camera’s. (The XDA II has a camera but you can make calls on it , so its more like a phone). PDA’s are for business but you can use them for other things e.g. playing games, downloading and editing pictures and playing and recording music.

Advantages:
The acer s60 has a 4,096 colour which is better than some phones and has free downloadable games that you download from the PC-CDROM. It also has the ability to record sound and handle MP3’s. The acer s60 has infrared which is found in most PDA’s and is used to ‘beam’ information to other devices. It also has photowiz a program that enables you to apply certain effects to photos on memory sticks.

It has 6 pictures in it’s memory. Most of the programs are in its memory but for some you have to install them from the acer s60 CD ROM. You can also install games and clock from the CD. There is a headphone socket to put in headphones specially designs for the acer s60.You can transfer pictures from the memory stick to the internal memory but only certain formats. it also has a hold switch, it disables all keys which stops the PDA from being turned on in your pocket.

Disadvantages:
Though the colour screen is one of its advantages when viewing photos and playing games it doesn’t look very good. The ability to edit photos but you can only copy some formats of pictures, from the memory card to the PDA.. You can only deal with certain formats of music and the quality of the sound recording is not very good. (I tried to record ringtones from the Internet and beam them to my phone but the format was different).
