...The snare I am reviewing is the one that came with my 'lower-end' Pearl Forum kit, a 'Steel Shell' model.
The snare appears to be very well constucted, despite having come with an entry-level kit. The shell is made entirely from stainless steel, with 6 lugs per side and very sturdy hoops for holding the head on the drum. The chrome finish looks good and doesn't dent or scratch too easily.
The heads that come with the drum are not so good. The top head is 'coated', but the coating quickly wears off and the head gets an off-white/clear patch in the centre, which can actually affect the sound (the head is thinner in the middle). This can be sorted with a new, decent quality head, such as a Remo Ambassador for around a tenner though, and is only necessary once the original head wears out.
The bottom (snare side) head is fine - very thin...

Advantages: Twice the options for not much more money Disadvantages: Big and heavy
...I was lucky enough to get to try an Epiphone G-1275 Custom in a guitar shop recently. I'd been dying to get my hands on one for ages, so I wasn't going to miss the opportunity. Now, I have to be honest, unless you're the next Slash or Jimmy Page, then the main reason to get a twin neck guitar is likely to be pure pose value, which I have to admit I'm totally guilty of. Not only are they very heavy, but they're a bit on the clumsy side due to the sheer size of them. Having said that, anyone who's seen Jimmy Page doing his stuff will have played a twin-necked air guitar at least once in their life!

Advantages: Light, Beutiful, pretty cheap, world known brand Disadvantages: none
...My mate once attempted to learn the guitar but he failed and sold me his fender acoustic for just £50. He was very foolsih and i was really lucky. This guitar is so nice to play and it sounds really good with some nice martin brass stings strung on.
I'm not the greatest guitarist in the world but this guitar makes every chord sound good. I have written all my songs on this guitar and one day if i'm famous it might be worth more than Bill Gates. My mate Paul who must be one of the best guitarists in Britain sure does get some nice blues sounds out of it aswell.
The guitar looks really nice and blends in well with my other guitars. The guitar is pretty light. Its not super light like some cheap guitars you'd buy from argos though. This is a real guitar for soem real chord players.
If you want to learn guitar invest in a nice acoustic...
