As anyone who has read the opinion I wrote on my new monitors at work with know, although I was delighted with the quality of the visual display, the only real flaw I could find was that there were no speakers incorporated in the monitor, making the picture quality out of this world, whilst the sound being produced by my aging speakers acted as something of a wake up call. Not a pleasant experience at all and not an experience befitting of the quality of the monitor. To rectify this situation and after much negotiation with my employer each workstation was provided with Acoustic Energy AEGO M speaker systems at a cost of 140 Euros (approximately £95). The M range being for monitors, rather than the H range which are additional speaker units for Hi-Fi systems.
The speakers are compatible with all operating systems and installation could not be made any easier for the user. Without the need for an external power source, all that is required is the plugging in of one socket to the rear of the monitor where indicated. With most desktop computers, the cable would be plugged into the rear of the tower system.
We opted to make the purchase due to the impressive demonstration of the product when playing video clips within the computer store and the fact that the silver/chrome finish blended very nicely with both our monitors and new workstations. Another consideration was the actual size of the speaker units. The main speakers are only 8 cm tall and 5 cm wide whilst the subwoofer is 30 cm tall and 15 cm wide. The subwoofer can be unplugged from the 2 other speakers if required, which in an office environment is advisable in my opinion. I say this now as I sit with my subwoofer plugged in and pumping out some music from Yahoo radio station ;-) - all of the other employees have left for the day.
The power output of the speaker is acceptable at 40 watts per channel and this produced enough volume to ensure that even the quietest of sound files can be played. In terms of sound quality I feel that these are the best speakers I have ever had the pleasure of listening to audio playback through. Individual sounds are easily distinguishable without the need to strain ones ears and there is no forms of feedback should other electrical devices be placed nearby.
Although a little on the expensive side I would not be without these speakers now as I feel they represent amazing value for money. They are well built, look fantastic and compliment an amazing visual display with top quality audio playback. Price may put some consumers off purchasing these speakers but I would advise that you opted to spend that little extra for the quality you will receive.

After taking them out of the box, i was a bit skeptical of how loud the speakers would actually be, as they are very small (a similar size to a small bag of sugar), but are of a very heavy build, whereas the sub woofer is very large. I bought the black speakers which have a very slick and modern design. The system took a matter of minutes to set up, and was very simple. I simply attached each ... ...to the sub to my laptop through the ear phone plug in. When i plugged the speakers in, i noticed the awesome sound quality, i then began to turn the speakers louder and louder up until the maximum volume - the sound quality remains brilliant no matter what volume you choose. Advantages: Sound Quality, Loud, Bassy (if you want), Build Quality. Disadvantages: None, I really can't expect much more from a set of speakers especially at this price.
I wanted a new set of speakers for under £100 for university, and after doing a lot of research into it, these were apparently the best.
When I first opened the box I was shocked at the size of the satellites, they are tiny! The sub on the other hand is sizeable, but not too large. I was even more shocked when I got the speakers plugged in!
The sound quality really is excellent, especially when you consider the price range they're in, I think they ... ...used to put music through. The bass is very good, but not overdone and the trebles are crisp. The mids are perhaps not quite there, but having said that I generally scoop the mids on my EQ anyway. Note that I am saying all this with a Creative X-Fi X-mod soundcard, you really need a soundcard (not integrated!) to get the most of these speakers, and the card was £30-40 well spent.

These speakers are very attractive, mine are white with black grilles, they are easy to set up and have 5 metres of cable to each satellite speaker, there is cabling for different applications, mine is for connection to my computer.
Having got everything connected and in position, power up and listen to some favourite tracks to see if any tweaking is needed, if you have Vista Home Premium it should have Realtek Audio Manager, this has 24 environment ... ...bass positions on the Aego and you have a possible 936 permutations, I have settled for living room/powerful/bass 2 but I suggest experimenting to get the best sound for your specific environment. They have 90 watts rms output and can be used at low volume without loss of low or high frequencies, there are other cheaper systems but this one has the WOW. ...
