Advantages: A balanced, crisp and authoritative sound reproduction. Very classy. Disadvantages: Nothing to worry about.

A delight to listen to with a wide variety of music, they are exceptionally well balanced throughout the range, with tight bass, clear mid and upper ranges. More than any other component in my system, they have transformed the sound. Even with a cheap CD player and 2nd hand Cyrus 2 amp (15 years old?) they sound fantastic. ...was surprised to read the comment about limited bass, because I feel that the Aelite's bass response (their are 2 bass units in each speaker) is one of their main strengths. The bass is there to be felt not just heard. You have to be careful where you sit - get to close to an adding bass harmonic and your insides start to vibrate!

Reading the only other review here, I was surprised to read the comment about limited bass, because I feel that the Aelite's bass response (their are 2 bass units in each speaker) is one of their main strengths. The bass is there to be felt not just heard. You have to be careful where you sit - get to close to an adding bass harmonic and your insides start to vibrate!
I listened to a pair of Kef IG9's (£800 rrp) recently and was shocked by the sound from them. The AE's are just in a different league. It's their clarity, separation and placement of the different instruments that sets them apart. They also appear VERY easy to drive. I plugged in a really old amp (Denon PMA-500v, 20 years old) that I recently sold for £40, the speakers output the same elegant sound. I could listen to them all day long and plan to keep them until the break or burn out.
If you are thinking of upgrading your system, as crazy as it sounds, spend all your budget on these speakers and forget the other components!
The only negative thing I can think to mention is that the tweeter cone is not greatly protected and could suffer from accidental damage. Other than that the design is unobtrusive yet elegant.
Advantages: Great mid -high range Disadvantages: Weak bass
These speakers are very well made with real wood veneer all round in a choice of wood. They are heavy with sound deadening material and weigh in at around 20Kg each. One point to note is that these speakers actually have a power handling of 175W as opposed to the much lower value stated. This allows them to work well with a wide range of amps.
When auditioning these speakers it was clear that they were aimed at audiences where bass does not play ... ...of cone (each with seperate crossovers so different parts of the sound signal are sent to the correct cone size) the largest of the three cones is only 5 1/4" big. This leads to modest bass and anyone who enjoys music such as drum and bass should look elsewhere or add a subwoofer to boost the bass.
The tweeter can sound harsh at times if the amp and cable is not matched well so auditioning these speakers before buying is a must as they may be too ...
