Advantages Great depth of sound, adjustable frequency filter

I bought this great subwoofer earlier this year for the great price of £39.99 from richer sounds and it proved to be very good value for money.
For the confused:
Active subwoofer- Has volume control (amplification) integrated into the sub. These are generally more expensive and provide better sound reproduction (not necarssarily louder).
Passive subwoofer- Does not have integrated amplification
It was easy to install as the instuctions were clear and all the necarssary cables were provided in the box. It is compatible with all amplifiers/DVD players via Line/SUB/WOOFER/LFE outputs. You may have to refer to the instuctions of the system you are connecting it to, however.
I have mine connected to a Pure Legato and it has added a great deal to the depth to the sound (responding to frequencies as low as 40 hz) without being too obtrusive.
For its size it is quite powerful and could be used with a home cinema set-up although in a small room it looks quite large (28 cm high).
The frequency filter allows you to adjust the frequencies amplified (40-150 hz) to taste. Setting it to the '40hz' position will allow only the very low frequencies through the speaker etc. The volume control allows you to adjust the bass separate from the system being used.
I would recomend this to a first time buyer looking to improve the depth of sound of an existing system. At such a good price this is definately worth considering.-ben
