Advantages: 3 Audio Inputs and WOW what sound!!! Disadvantages: Wires, and a incy wincy remote that is easily lost.

Anyway back on topic. Easy to wire up, instructions are easy to understand, and all the wires are colour coded so you know what goes where. I use these in my living room, and you have ... ...getting these, I have got rid of my stereo, and now just use my dvd player as a cd player, and satellite for radio... and you can hear them as crystal clear all over the house, and in the summer when windows are open, all the way down the street. (Not to say that I don't blast them at all)
The bass speaker is adjustable, you can have as much or as little bass and you like.
The remote is fairly easy to use also.

On/Off Button Mute Listen mode (switches to Prologic or Dolby Stereo) Dsp (Display) Mode - All different sound effects ***Theatre, Matrix, Live, Church, Hall and Simulation*** Mute 3 different inputs - Optical (Used for DVD), Coaxial (spare), Aux (Used for satellite)
You can control the individual pairs or speakers. Centre, Surround's and the Woofer. Also there is bass and treble up/down buttons, you can also bypass these with a touch of the bypass button.
And not forgetting the most obvious buttons of all, Volume Up/Down. All this on a remote that is the size of a credit card!!! That is why it is so easy to lose this remote. I have lost count of the amount of times the kid's shove it under the sofa. The remote takes a small battery very much llike a watch battery, do not confuse these with any other's, I have tried and they don't work. You need CR2025.
The woofer also has a switch on the back which enables you to cut power to the whole unit, as when you mute and put it on standby, you still get a little light on it to say that it is still powered.
I think I have covered enough, now back to my disco.. hehehe
Advantages: great value for money, perfect for game consoles Disadvantages: not good for music, no settings memory, subwoofer quiet
This is my first and current surround system been going for a few years now being used about 10hours a week so very durable. This is a great little surround system, it is absolutly perfect for gaming the sound quality is perfectly sufficient, and if you fiddle with the settings reasonable bass. There are a few things though that I would want improved. The first is standby is not standby, the sytem remains on with low level buzzing from the speakers, ... ...wipes the settings menu. I have got it off to a tee now when you turn it on to get the settings I want, but it can be slightly annoying. On the upside compared to a 250 pound JVC system downstairs it auto detects the incoming signal so it will auto switch itslef to dolby digital mode when you turn on you xbox, or pro-logic II for playstation. It is good with its two digital inputs I use optical for consoles and coaxial for freeview. It comes with ...

Advantages: Great sound, price, looks (comparatively) Disadvantages: Subwoofer integrated into the amp (see review), hard to find now
Essentially it's great, but the build quality is a little iffy. But, what do you expect considering it cost £90 :p
Firstly, great sound (for £90, brilliant in fact). I'm not a sound connoisseur by any means, but it sounded great to me.
Secondly, it actually looks vaguely attractive. In comparison to the system that replaced this (the logically named DS534) it's positively gorgeous.
Thirdly, the number of inputs. It costs a packet to find anything ... ...as this system did.
The only issues (and I mean only) are the remote, which is prone to breaking (apparently); and the design of the subwoofer/amp. Because it's all sort of integrated into one big box, it means that the whole thing has to be replaced if it breaks...which is what happened to me. After a year and a bit (typically, it was 2 weeks after the warranty ran out) the subwoofer started making weird sounds. So much so that it made it unusable ...

Advantages: Crystal clear sound, easy to set up Disadvantages: Tiny remote, heavy
This surround sound unit is one of the best ones I have ever had. I bought it in early 2006 and it has not gone wrong once.
I bought it from Argos for £89.99 as my TV has only mono sound. I didn't have a car so I had to carry it home on the tram and it was bloody heavy! I ended up having to "borrow" a trolley from a supermarket to carry it up the road.
Setting it up was very easy. All you have to do is connect the colour coded cables, which are ... ...the coaxial/aux/optical cable into the DVD player and its done.
The sound quality is amazing. You can change the settings from surround and stereo. It automatically detects whether it is Dolby, DTS [only works on coaxial and optical] and even if it's not [such as from the TV] you can have it surround sound by selecting one of 6 presets.
I use this about 3-4 hours a day mainly for watching evening TV or listening to music in the morning so it is ...

Advantages: okay with dvds to connect to dolby digital Disadvantages: incompatable with blu-ray dolby digital you can only use prologic
...I have tried to contact acoustic solutions but just get a blank page. Therefore I would caution anyone to purchase a ds533 without checking compability with blu-ray players. I have tried four players to no avail. This is a problem that only blue-ray has . I do not know about other home cinema systems but I think I will stick to dvd players. ...

Quick review of Acoustic Solutions DS533
The system as a whole is good for it's price, better than some other expensive ones, such as a few of the Ministry Of Sound (MOS) range, the system is easy to setup, but heavy to carry because of the sub woofer/Decoder combo, also the cables may look expensive, but the silver bits at the end, reveal copper cabling, which infact the cable is cheap and can be easily damaged, but easy enough to replace the cable if need be.
Supports the following:
2.0 Stereo, 3D Stereo, Dolby Stereo Surround (in Stereo mode, not mentioned on box or manual via media source, if media source supports it) , 5.1 Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Stereo via 5.1, Dolby Pro Logic II Analog and Digital, DTS via Optical/Coaxial. ...
