Advantages: Great sound, price, looks (comparatively)
Disadvantages: Subwoofer integrated into the amp (see review), hard to find now

...Essentially it's great, but the build quality is a little iffy. But, what do you expect considering it cost £90 :p Firstly, great sound (for £90, brilliant in fact). I'm not a sound connoisseur by any means, but it sounded great to me. Secondly, it actually looks vaguely attractive. In comparison to the system that replaced this (the logically named DS534) it's positively gorgeous. Thirdly, the number of inputs. It costs a packet to find anything with an optical input these days - twice as much as this system did. The only issues (and I mean only) are the remote, which is prone to breaking (apparently); and the design of the subwoofer/amp. Because it's all sort of integrated into one big box, it means that the whole thing has to be replaced if it breaks...which is what happened to me. ...I bought the Acoustic Solutions DS1033 speaker system from EBay for just £65 around an year ago. When it was delivered, I could not believe the heavy weight of package. Frankly, I did not have too many expectations for a home cinema system at this cost, but the DS1033 has impressed me a lot. Read below for the reasons!!! Till date we had no problems what-so-ever with the system. Dimensions: (D)36.5, (W)20, (H)38cm. System Setup: The instructions are pretty simple to setup the whole system. We set the back speakers behind our sofa and the front speakers at the corners of the wall. The bass lies right in the middle of the front speakers. ...Hi fi stereo amps do not seem to be as abundant as they once were but with a good pair of speakers, they still provide an excellent audio solution. Fortunately the Acoustic Solutions sp 101stero amplifier can be found at Argos and elsewhere at a very reasonable price. It embodies most of the features you would expect from a hi fi amp and now comes with a remote control unit. There are six audio inputs - a phono input for magnetic cartridges and five line inputs allowing you to connect plenty of audio sources. There is a line out also to connect to tape deck rec or pc sound card line in. The unit is well built and the sound is great - in fact, I have just bought another one for upstairs now called sp 103.
