Advantages: Multi regional.
Disadvantages: Poor reception for remote control.

...The assistant in Richer Sounds recommended this DVD player to me when I asked them for a relatively cheap device, with the criteria that it must be able to play discs that weren’t Region 2. This turned out to be the case, the price point was pretty good (less than £150 in 2002) and a sheet of paper provided with the player told me how to convert the player to all regions – a sequence of key presses with the remote control. Since then it has done the job intended for it; to play DVDs from various regions (I have used 0, 1, 2 and 4 successfully) plus it also plays VideoCDs (CD-I) and audio CDs. I believe it also has MP3 capability but have never tried this. ...Hi fi stereo amps do not seem to be as abundant as they once were but with a good pair of speakers, they still provide an excellent audio solution. Fortunately the Acoustic Solutions sp 101stero amplifier can be found at Argos and elsewhere at a very reasonable price. It embodies most of the features you would expect from a hi fi amp and now comes with a remote control unit. There are six audio inputs - a phono input for magnetic cartridges and five line inputs allowing you to connect plenty of audio sources. There is a line out also to connect to tape deck rec or pc sound card line in. The unit is well built and the sound is great - in fact, I have just bought another one for upstairs now called sp 103. ...I have just bought an Acoustic Solutions AS628-LED DVD player from Argos and I could not believe the price only £22:99 for the quality of the product. There are other similar DVD player with more recognisable brand names that are priced at more than double the price of the Acoustic Solutions AS628-LED DVD. The player comes with all of the below. DVD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, JPEG Picture CD's playback compatibility. Dolby sound system. 2 channel stereo output. Supports region 2 coding. 1 SCART socket. Size (H) 3.8, (W) 36, (D) 25.5cm. Weight 1.9kg. If you are after a very affordable DVD player with very good qualities then you can't go wrong with this.
