It is suitable for children from very early on as the baby can be laid down and I think I put Jack on it from about a month old. I had 2 baby gyms for my son when he was born, both were second hand from my mum who had used them with my twin sisers for a year before I had my son. I used this one more as my son loved it from around 3 months old! I think it is from birth but I would recommend putting a folded blanket or something similair on the bit baby lies on as the padding is quite thin and the base is made of plastic. I bought this toy for my son when he was 4 months old. Now at nearly 7 months old, it is still his favourite toy on his gym. It was a little expensive, but since most of his toys are hand-me-downs I didn't mind spending a little bit more on the few toys I have bought just for him. ...It has 3 soft fish each dangling from a plastic cylinder which are attached to a rainbow shape about 15cm wide. It is about 30cm long, which means it's a little too long for our gym. I have to use a plastic jewellry link instead of a normal ring to attach it to the gym, otherwise it is too long. We have a sturdy plastic gym.
