I brought this activity mat for my daughter when she was 6 months old off a friend who had two bought for her daughter for Christmas. She recommended it as she has two boys aswell and cannot always be in the same place all the time with her daughter. It is suitable for children from very early on as the baby can be laid down and I think I put Jack on it from about a month old. Advantages: Hardwearing, brightly coloured and fun.
Disadvantages: More expensive than most but worth it!

I had 2 baby gyms for my son when he was born, both were second hand from my mum who had used them with my twin sisers for a year before I had my son. I used this one more as my son loved it from around 3 months old! I think it is from birth but I would recommend putting a folded blanket or something similair on the bit baby lies on as the padding is quite thin and the base is made of plastic.
