Advantages: Very comfortable and easy to use Disadvantages: Not the cheapest on the market
I've been wearing contactlenses for about 7 years. I was nervous at first, especially as there are eye problems in my family. I didn't want to do anything that might be detrimental to my eyesight or cause problems down the line. Also my job at the time meant that I was out of the house for 12 hours at a time, I wanted lenses I could leave in for this length of time without worrying that my eyes would dry. For these reason I didn't go for the cheapest option but instead took advice from my optician and chose AcuvueAdvance.
These lenses are licensed for continuous wear, so in theory they could be left in the eye for the full 2 weeks before needing to be changed. My optician explained that this is because they allow a lot of oxygen to the back of the eye, so the lense does not need to be removed to allow the eye to 'breath'. However ...
Advantages: Reduce dryness and feel more comfortable for longer Disadvantages: Very thin, so can be tricky to insert, bit pricey.
I never got on with anything other than soft lenses right from the start. I had some non-disposables, but they kept falling out and I lost them, so that got expensive.
So after a few years of giving up, I tried again, this time with daily disposables. Great! What a revelation!
I started with Acuvue and was very happy with the comfort. I used them for a couple of years, buying dailies from my optician via a contract. I could wear them all day (but not all evening as well), with no discomfort. I'd come home from work, take my suit off, put my specs on, happy at home!
The difficulty I found with Acuvue was the actual lenses were so thin that it was quite hard to get them in in the first place ,as they were so floppy. They do work better if you let them dry out on your finger tip before insertion in your eye. So after I said this ...
Advantages: Very comfy, don't dry your eyes out Disadvantages: None really
I've been wearing these contactlenses for over two years now. I suffered with many problems with other types of lenses, such as dry, tired & itchy eyes.
My optician recommended these at the time because I was wearing my lenses for 12-14 hours a day and also staring at a computer screen for 8 hours a day at work. And these lenses are designed for extended wear as I think they allow your eyes to 'breathe'
I've noticed the description next to the above pic of these states 'weekly disposable', but my optician told me they could be worn for a month (and that includes taking them out every night and storing them in solution) before disposing of them. He recommended I wear them for a fortnight, due to the condition of my eyes.
This is first time (and I've been wearing lenses for over ten years) that I have stuck with a particular lens ...
