Advantages: Reduce dryness and feel more comfortable for longer Disadvantages: Very thin, so can be tricky to insert, bit pricey.
I never got on with anything other than soft lenses right from the start. I had some non-disposables, but they kept falling out and I lost them, so that got expensive.
So after a few years of giving up, I tried again, this time with daily disposables. Great! What a revelation!
I started with Acuvue and was very happy with the comfort. I used them for a couple of years, buying dailies from my optician via a contract. I could wear them all day (but not all evening as well), with no discomfort. I'd come home from work, take my suit off, put my specs on, happy at home!
The difficulty I found with Acuvue was the actual lenses were so thin that it was quite hard to get them in in the first place ,as they were so floppy. They do work better if you let them dry out on your finger tip before insertion in your eye. So after I said this ...
Advantages: Very comfortable and easy to use Disadvantages: Not the cheapest on the market
I've been wearing contactlenses for about 7 years. I was nervous at first, especially as there are eye problems in my family. I didn't want to do anything that might be detrimental to my eyesight or cause problems down the line. Also my job at the time meant that I was out of the house for 12 hours at a time, I wanted lenses I could leave in for this length of time without worrying that my eyes would dry. For these reason I didn't go for the cheapest option but instead took advice from my optician and chose Acuvue Advance.
These lenses are licensed for continuous wear, so in theory they could be left in the eye for the full 2 weeks before needing to be changed. My optician explained that this is because they allow a lot of oxygen to the back of the eye, so the lense does not need to be removed to allow the eye to 'breath'. However ...
Advantages: Value for money if used wisely Disadvantages: If not rinsed well or left in too long can cause discomfort
Being a short-sighted Myopia sufferer contactlenses seemed like an obvious alternative to spectacles what with constantly losing or breaking them. Contactlenses eradicated this problem! Focus monthly's were the first brand of lenses I ever tried?not too expensive so as a student I could comfortably afford them. I must admit these lenses were quite comfortable?at first but due to the necessity of having to re-use and re-use them they had a tendency to fray round the edges, dry out and slightly deteriorate. If they hadn't been sterilised properly overnight and stored in the correct solution this felt on occasions like putting grit into your eye the following morning.
Focus monthly's are a product of Ciba Vision and retail at most opticians for about ten pounds a month (can be purchased in three month batches if more appropriate ...
