Adams is a children's clothing shop, there is bound to be one in most large towns and cities throughout the UK and now stores are popping up in Europe and Asia! There are now over 400 stores in total with over 300 of those in UK alone. A far cry from the days when Amy Adams opened her terraced house in Birmingham selling baby clothes way back in 1933!
Amy opened up 3 stores shortly afterwards and 40 yrs later ... ...to strength.
Adams sells children's clothing from babies to 10 yr olds. The shops are usually well laid out with a section dedicated to each age group 0-12mths 1-3 yrs and 4-10yrs and also separated into girls and boys wear. My local Adams is a very small outlet but it still divided in the same way as the larger stores that I have been in.

Amy opened up 3 stores shortly afterwards and 40 yrs later she joins in partnership with Foster Brothers and a further 30 stores open within a couple of years. The business continues to grow today, going from strength to strength.
The clothes are trendy and they always have right up to date fashions for children, they have the really casual wear like jogging trousers, t-shirts and sweaters, smart trendy jeans, they also do smart outfits for special occasions, and school uniforms too all at very reasonable prices. At the end of the review I will give a sample of some of the prices I have paid.
Adams is a store which always seems to be having a sale of some sort, even in my small local store there are always a few rails of clothes which have been reduced, these savings can be anything from 15% off right up to 70% off. I have found some super bargains from these rails throughout the year, I sometimes buy a lot of these bargains for my children for the following year, for instance at the end of last summer I bought a few pairs of shorts, some dresses/skirts and t-shirts all at 70% off the original price…sometimes even less on some of these items, I bought them all in the next size up so that my children would get the benefit of them for this year! A lot of children's clothes don't go out of fashion as adults wear can….even if it did, most children of this age aren't all that aware of it anyway!
Quite often along with the great sales Adams has regularly is their buy one get one half price offer, which always seems to be with school wear, and at other times includes items which mix and match well with each other, ie T-shirts and shorts, or tops and skirts/trousers….. This is a great time to snap up essentials for school such as school coats, trousers, skirts, underwear and school shoes. Definitely saves a small fortune!
Another great thing now is that Adams now offer a bonus to their customers, simply by having a Nectar account (free to open) and can earn you Nectar points which can then be converted into vouchers….to use In Adams or elsewhere. Simply by shopping in Adams and handing over your Nectar card you earn points. You can also earn these points elsewhere but this isn't a Nectar card review….but you really should look into that!
Adams also have their own account card (which I haven't taken advantage of as I don't trust myself not to spend a fortune on it) but basically works the same way as any other store card in that if you don't pay off the balance in full each month then interest will be added on, but having the Adams card can get you even more savings.
The quality of clothes from Adams is outstanding and I have never experienced any problems with anything I have bought from them. Now they have gone one step better in that in most of their skirts and trousers there is now a hidden adjustable waistband, this is a very welcome addition as both of my children are very slim, (unlike mummy) and I often had to take a little nip and tuck in most waistbands in new clothes. Now I don't have to! The adjustable part is basically a piece of elastic sewn into both sides of the waistband and it has several little notches cut into it, and there is a button for which you select the best notch to suit your child and this is totally hidden when the clothes are on…….. Ingenious!
Prices in the store are about average with other high street stores such as Next, Mothercare etc my only quibble with this is that prices sometimes rise a £1 every few sizes, for example a skirt for an age 3 could cost £7 but for an age 5 will cost £8 and may even go up to £9 for older child. Obviously a bit more material has gone into the manufacturing of this but surely not that much?
On my last visit to Adams I managed to get 2 winter coats, 2 pairs of school trousers, 2 school sweaters, a school cardigan, a school skirt, 2 blouses, and 2 polo shirts and it totalled £64 due to the buy one get one half price offers. The price should have been over £90. I also had some Nectar vouchers which I used in part payment too which reduced my bill by another £30!
On a previous visit I spent £25 and got a trendy dress, denim skirt, 2 trendy tops and a cardigan for my daughter, The dress alone should have cost £14!
I've been buying from Adams since my children were babies and have always found the staff in my local shop and also in other larger stores in Glasgow and Clydebank for instance to be very helpful and do their best to help with any problems, sizes etc. My local shop has even rung a larger store on one occasion when they were out of stock of something I had taken a fancy to and asked them to hold it till the weekend for me. I've also been able to reserve things in the shop with my name on for a couple of days when I didn't have enough money on my person to pay at the time. The staff are friendly and courteous and even when buying the load of school uniforms recently she put it through the till so that I would get the best savings. (as the lower priced item was the one you get half price) This to me is going beyond the call of duty and I would recommend anyone to visit Adams at least once.
Most of the stores are quite spacious, with wide aisles and usually have one of those little coin operated engines at the front entrance (which I hate as the kids always used to pester me for a shot and you can't leave them unsupervised) My local store however is really small and so the aisles are quite tight, may be quite difficult for a wheelchair user or twin pram, but a normal pushchair can be taken in, although if more than one then it becomes difficult to move around.
Hope this has been of some help to anyone with children or contemplating having children!
Advantages: A wide selection of clothes Disadvantages: Style of clothes
...or the other way. Adams has thought about this and now they school uniform range have adjustable waist bands. You are able to order Adams school wear on line from http://shop.adamscard.co.uk/ . Any orders over £25(after any discounts) are delivered free otherwise they charge £3.50 which I think is quiet reasonable. To return the items you can take them back to a store or return them by post though you have to foot the bill unless the goods are faulty. ... ...can not use the old Adams store card, you would think they want to hold on to their loyal customers not deter them. I feel that the clothes are not of a high standard I find but not of poor quality they are of mid range. Some of the items I over priced for what they are and rather go to another kid's clothes store and get more for money in either quality or quantity. Prices wary from little as £3 fro a simple plain t-shirt to £30 for a coat. Don't ...

Advantages: Colourful, fashionable and imaginative clothing Disadvantages: None
...began in 1933 by Amy Adams from her terraced home in Birmingham, Adams has grown from strength to strength. As well as its online store Adams now has 500 UK distribution outlets and 103 international outlets in the Middle East and Europe.
I was very surprised when I first took a look around our local Adams store. Having a baby boy I have all too often ventured into shops to find only a small selection of boys clothes cast into one small corner, ... ...Adams Childrenswear stock nothing of the sort. Their wide range of clothes are interesting, fashionable and full of vibrancy and colour! With regularly updated lines they are always guaranteed to have those 'must buy' items in stock. I was particularly pleased during this year's short lived summer when I found that Adams were selling jelly sandals, a personal favourite from my own childhood! Much to my husband's dismay (he has no taste I say!) I ...

Advantages: Cute look, low price Disadvantages: Very poor quality
...of "Summer Love" sunglasses at ADAMS on Thursday. They are aimed at toddlers with an age range of 1 - 3 years. They look extremely cute and the price is £3 which is reasonable. The glasses dark tinted and are 100% UV protected (conforming to EN 1836:2005), a very important feature. The material of the frame is 100% plastic apart from the two small metal screws holding the hinged arms. The frame is pink and yellow and the suround of the lenses is ... ...the item did not even last one day!!! After unwrapping the glasses, my 16-month-old daughter wanted of course to try them on straight away. So I unfolded the glasses to put them on her nose and OH NO! ... One of the hinged arms came off!!!
Now, if an adult cannot even put the sunglasses on a child without them coming apart then how on earth are they are going to last when the group which this item is aimed for will get their little hands on them? ...

Advantages: good price`s Disadvantages: small shop`s
I have shopped in Adam`s for cloth`s for my daughter for about a year now.
I find Adam`s great value for money and the cloth`s that i have purchased have all been good qaulity and take alot of ware before looking old.
This is one of my hate`s about bying baby clothe`s,the amount of money that i can spend on expensive cloth`s for her,and they end up old very quick.
Adam`s has a good selection of cloth`s for both girl`s and boy`s,they sell socks,underware,pj`s,jacket`s,school,casuall ... ...pram toy`s,blanket`s etc:
I find this a great shop for shoes.
I had problems finding baby size2 shoes that were hard sole, when my daughter started to walk.
It would be worth your while,to take a look at any Adam`s sale, you can buy their clothes for virtually nothing.
Also.for every £30 or more you spend in the shop leading up to christmass, you recieve a £5 discount on your next purchase. The only problem is,most adam`s shops i have been in are ...

Advantages: Reasonable prices Disadvantages: Not many branches left now, not a great deal of babywear
...ready to start shopping at Adams the chain had reported problems & many stores were set to close. My local branch had in fact only just re-opened after several years of being out of my town. It is still open, I think because it is so new compared to many of the older stores, and I have popped in several times over the past few months. The store itself is clean, bright, uncluttered and modern looking - perhaps this is since it's so new - I couldn't ... ...to the bottom of the store where the baby ranges are located. As usual there is a smaller range for boys than girls, but all the basics are catered for at reasonable to average prices. I haven't bought much there - a few basic tops & a lovely blue & white striped cardigan. I find on the whole that a lot of the baby clothes look cheaper than they actually are & this puts me off buying them. I haven't had cause to check the older ranges - but there ...

Advantages: Funky card design, some reasonable deals to be had at restaurants Disadvantages: Poor rate of return, awful customer service, BP's staff not trained in using the system
a Debenhams Account Card you'll get an extra Nectar point for every £2 spent.
It's a valid point, however, that you can "double accumulate" (or whatever you call it) by combining a purchase at BP, for example, with a payment on your Barclaycard. But it's still nothing to get excited about.
In the last week or so Nectar has announced more major partners in the scheme. The Thresher group of booze huts, a vast chain which includes Threshers, Victoria Wine, Wine Rack, Bottoms Up, Haddows, Drinks Cabin and Huttons, are giving 2 points per £1. And AdamsChildrenswear are giving the same deal again. Obviously having more partners can only serve to strengthen the benefit of this scheme to consumers.
When your card contains over 500 points, these can be converted into paper vouchers at any till in Sainsburys. 500 points on your card gets you ...
