Jam is Macintosh CD-Recordable (CD-R) software for creating professional quality audio CDs. Jam uses sound files on hard disk, such as AIFF, SDII or WAV files, to create audio tracks on CD. The software enables you to 'premaster' audio CDs on your hard disk; in other words, to prepare sound files for recording in audio CD format. The resultant file, called an 'audio disc image', can then be sent to a CD mass replication facility, or you can use Jam to create CDs in your own studio using a CD-R or CD-RW compact disc recorder. Jam creates CDs that conform 100% to the audio CD (CD-DA) specification known as Red Book.

...Adaptec is the software that you get with most writers noweredays. I think this is because the name suggests it is very easy to use. The interface is very easy to use and can be done step by step. I also found the help files very good and it took me step by step. Adaptec also comes with a program called spin doctor which you use tp connect to your hi-fi. With spin docter you can put all those old vinyl records onto CD, which is great for an old man like me!!...

Advantages: Simple to use, Good interface Disadvantages: Standard version does not support mp3 to cda conversion
...The Adaptec Easy Creator Software is simple and straightforward to use. The graphical interface is simple to understand, and the help files are comprehensive, although the help wizard is irritating (as one would expect!). There are a few minor gripes about the software, it cannot convert file types unless the deluxe version is used. Furthermore, it cannot work in conjunction with other programs such as Nero which support mp3 to cda conversions. The filesize is not overwhelming and installation is simple through a setup wizard.
All in all, the Adaptec software is recommended for most cd-rw, but for a complete suite, I would recommend the delux version....

Advantages: Stable and easy to use Disadvantages: Can destroy perfectly good blank CD's
...Having read other peoples opinions i feel i must have my say. Although I started with adaptec easy CD creator and had only a few problems, mainly installation, at first. I have since found that I have had to scrap over 5 CD-R's when doing direct copying. This is not down to my hardware, as will become clearer later, but I believe is down to the software itself. I recemtly installed Nero v5.0.2.2 and have had absolutely no problems since and not even one wasted CD-R or CD-RW. If you have the choice then go for Nero, although Adaptec is suitable it is nowhere near as good and versatile as NERO...
