Snap Server 4100 power supply - power supply

Advantages: Compatible with newer 24pin motherboards and EPS12v Server boards, High wattage, Silent fan operation
Disadvantages: Needs adapter to use with 20pin motherboards,

...Upon upgrading my computer to an athlon MP system, i thought it would be a good idea to change my power supply for something a bit more powerful. When i looked up the specifications for this power supply at antec`s website, there was nothing i could fault. Looking into it further, i found that i would need a 24pin to 20pin adapter to use this on my motherboard. The handy thing is that although this isnt an ATX2.0 power supply, the 24pin pinout for the EPS12v ATX connector is 100% identical to the ATX2.0 24pin pinout. Another reason why i decided on this powersupply (so when i upgrade to dual opterons - this powersupply will be ample and will already provide the correct connectors). You can always tell the quality of a power supply by its weight, and these ones are heavy! Comparing it to my old Q-tec 400w power supply you would think... Read review

...Power Edge is main line of Dell servers. 2950 is most universal base server from that line. If you are not sure what spec should your server have, just order it with one dual core CPU (1333MHz bus, not 1066; makes big difference), RAID5, three HDDs and 2GB of RAM (in two sticks preferably), two power supplies (it's server, reliability is it's second name). You may find, that it's actually all you need. If not, thanks to superb case and internal build you can easilly upgrade its spec. It has two CPU slots, eight DDR2 banks, can take up to six SATAII or 8 SAS drives. It can also take any two PCI or PCI Express cards (depends which standard riser you ordered). ...for safety so the server is secured into the rack permanently. This way if for some reason the rack tipped, the servers would not come flying out and smashing themselves and you to pieces! The Looks of it are fantastic. There is not a lot of unused or unwanted plastic masking the front. The entire front area is packed with features, controls, inputs and disk bays. Even the DVD rom drive has been slimmed down to compact it in. There is also a large vent to aid cooling. After all, a beast of this magnitude is going to take some cooling. Turn it round and again the rear is mainly ports for connecting hardware or vents for cooling. There are also 2 large bays where the removable power supplies go.
