Manufacturer's product description
Snap Servers provide a cost-effective, low-maintenance network block and file sharing solution that supports simultaneous access by Windows, UNIX/Linux, Macintosh, HTTP/HTTPS, and FTP clients. All GuardianOS Snap Servers come with one or two Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports, CA eTrust Antivirus, and BakBone NetVault backup software preinstalled, and support for third party backup agents.
Advantages: Good points - Nice looking box and lots of pre-installed software with easy web-based configuration Disadvantages: Bad points – Nothing special on the inside, lacks refinement.
...Like supermodels, rack-mountable servers appear to get thinner and thinner by the week. SGI’s Internet server is no exception. But very few manufacturers get this form right and most don’t live up to expectations. Corners are cut and sometimes ingenuity is lacking. SGI has produced a capable machine but pales in the shadow of its better-built rivals.
SGI says that the machine was built with support for rapid and unpredictable growth in mind. That means it’s for service providers of all Internet varieties. The good thing about this is up to 16 of these machines can be clustered together in a server farm and act as one. This, its claims allows up to 1.152 terabytes of data storage.
Our review machine contains dual Intel Pentium III processors running at 700MHz and an embedded Intel 82c559 Pro/100 Ethernet adapter all running...

Advantages: Powerful - impressive - cutting edge Disadvantages: Like a big filing cabinet on wheels

This whilst being very snazzy is connected on a sliding ribbon cable which slid out very well but didn't like going back in as easily and took a bit of wiggling on the one I built. Hopefully on a server of this build quality it shouldn't be out that often, and for those of you with a fascination for neon's yes it has got a blue one :)
Overall then a great big 7U, super fast, massive storage, cutting edge, well thought out, fault tolerent, expandable, expensive, filing cabinet. Worth every penny!!!...

Advantages: Quick, Cheap Disadvantages: Better (albeit more expensive products) are out there
...I got this product free from my brother after my old one had broken - I was instantly impressed; personally, I feel that this server provides all the necessary server features in an affordable, functional package. The Intel processor provides the necessary computing power, while a mix of PCI and PCI-Express slots deliver the expandability for the future if you wanted to expand you system, whether it just be for your personal needs, or if you are serious and need it for business purposes.
This server has always been very efficient for me and quick. I didnt need to upgrade it, but after speaking to somebody from HP, i was assured that it would be very simple to do so, and should still work to a very similar standard.
I have drawn up a list of this products vital features so you can compare it to other similar products (just incase...
