Advantages: Very Easy to setup, v.good range, good looking piece of equipment Disadvantages: Can't forward many ports
...As Linksys is owned by Cisco when you purchase this router you know you're purchasing something which will last and will be reliable. The wireless part of this router is amazing, the signal is excellent and I haven't had a problem since I purchased this item. The router part protects my home network from intrusion and allows me to setup a secure VPN so I can access my network elsewhere. You can open ports to allow applications to access any PCs on your network. You can also restrict internet access per PC with timed intervals allowing you to keep an eye on the kids usage. Overall this router is an amazing bit of kit that has every option available and takes minutes to setup....

Advantages: Connects you to the Internet or to the Local Network Disadvantages: Doesnt work on 1900 MHz network and Applce Mac OS
...mode allows two kinds of communication:
- Wireless stations communicate with each other through a WLAN accesspoint.
- Wireless stations communicate with a wired LAN station through a WLAN accesspoint.
The advantage of the infrastructure operating mode is that you can have more control over network connections because they pass through an accesspoint. A wireless station can access the services that are available in a regular wired LAN: company database; email; internet and other network resources.
The Ad hoc
In the ad hoc operating mode, wireless stations send and receive data directly with each other, no accesspoint is required. Simply insert the radio cards into the stations, make the necessary configurations and start communicating. Ad hoc networking is easy to set up, but communication is limited to stations that are within range...

Advantages: Very small - Good connection and signal - doesn't overheat - does the job Disadvantages: Not sure how well it works with PCI wireless PC card
...My experience of this product is that it works quite well the reason why it doesn't go from good to excellent will be explained bellow.
I have 2 PC's and 1 laptop I wanted the main PC to be hard-wired as that one is right next to the access hub and modem so no need to be wireless and anyway the main machine should always be hard-wired as no wireless can beat that.
Then I have my son's laptop a Dell Inspiron 2200 which has already a wireless network card, and this machine runs perfect via the wirelessaccesspoint anywhere in the house, and my house is a 3 storey house so plenty of range.
However I did install a wireless PCI network card on the PC on 3rd level of the house and this connection was intermittent which meant going back to hard-wire there, now I cannot say for sure if this was a card problem or the accesspoint problem or even...
