...Finally, just when I was begining to give up on ever attaching my SCSI drive to my system, along came the answer to my prayers. A neat fitted in seconds, no need to open the case solution; the Adaptec USB to SCSI connector.
This piece of electronic genius allows you to connect virtually any SCSI device directly to your PC through its USB port. It works and is brilliant. It just plugs in and away it goes. Everything is supplied and with easy to follow directions.
It is not cheap though, expect to pay about $50 ($90) for it but compared with a SCSI card & cables it probably works out the same and is definately 100% less hastle than trying to configure an already stuffed full to the brim machine.
It's got my vote....

...for you though. The aerial itself improves signal strength by 6dB/decade (just a technical term - don't worry, its a good number though) but the cable used to connect the device looses 3dB/decades of signal strength to noise per meter. You only get 50cm of cable with it so loose about 1.5dB/decade to extra noise but this does cut down the improvement. (Hence why a long cable is a disadvantage)
This means that you have to weigh up its usefulness to you. Where within 50cm of your wireless card can the device be placed to best improve signal and if it can't be placed easily within 50cm's how much extra cable (and therefore extra signal loss) will you need to get it somewhere useful? In theory any improvement to your signal is good but to play it safe you should probably go for an extra signal gain of 3dB/decade. So you've only got 1m of cable...

Advantages: Cheap, fast, reliable, good software Disadvantages: No fancy box to throw away
...it to drag & drop operation files from Windows Explorer, just like you would if you were using a floppy disk. The difference is that the disks have a capacity of 650 or 700Mb, instead of 1.44Mb on a floppy!
The price of disks has come down dramatically in recent months and, at around 30 pence each (I recently paid 20 pence each for 50 700Mb disks on a spindle from Staples) you can afford to use the burner for backups, music, storing photographs and for transferring files from computer to computer if you are not on a network.
The Samsung SW-408 supports CD-R/RW, CD-DA, CD-ROM/XA, CD-ROM, Video-CD, CD-I, Photo CD, CD-Extra, CD-TEXT, so it will play just about anything, apart from DVD’s.
The Adaptec software is easy to use and quite reliable, although, on occasion it freezes, but this is not uncommon with this type of software.
