The best
Review of Sony DVP535D by
pefidler
Advantages: Quality
Disadvantages: None
...Bought a sony 535d a month ago, and can honestly say that I am very impressed.
The picture quality is great, the sound is great and the build quality is great!
I bought mine from techtronics, as I already had a few DVD's that where region 1 and it still worked out cheaper than buying it from the shops. At first, I had a problem in that I had to watch region 1's in black and white, but a scart cable, and my old telly sorted this out. Because the player has RGB out, this cured the problem in one go!
Also, the sound quality is great. I used to play DVD's on my PC, and the sound through my amp and speakers was good, but this just blows it away. Also, I've been playing audio CD's through it, and this just knocks the pants off my old sony CD plkayer!
If you have got the money, buy one. If you haven't, pawn your granny and buy one!...

A good player now outdated
Review of Pioneer DV-525 by
Mooseman
Advantages: Quality of picture and sound
Disadvantages: CD playback not as good as CD separates
...Ive been looking to replace my PC as a source of DVD playback, and after much searching and demoing, I found the Pioneer DVD 535.
I have still not seen any reviews of this machine in the press, however going on the well known quality of the 525 I shelled out £209 and have definately been more than happy.
I have seen some forums discuss a noisy platter, but compared with most I demoed it was nice and quiet.
Have a look if your in the market for a £200-300 DVD player....you wont be sorry....

Pioneer DV525 or DV535
Review of Pioneer DV-525 by
groomoid
Advantages: Cheap, good picture and sound, multi region(if chipped),Plays all CD's
Disadvantages: None for me
...I couldnt find a place to write about the Pioneer DV-535, but as the only difference between the two models is that the DV-535 is black and the DV-525 is silver & doesn't have an optical out. This seemed as good a place as any.
I have read some reviews on this site and others, and like most people did a fair bit of research on forums etc. This is a very good DVD player for the money. I brought a multi region one from richer sounds for £207 including 3 years warranty. It is reasonably straight forward to set up and plays cd's (both shop bought and those i have ripped on the computer). The remote is easy to understand and the whole thing is a cinch to set up.
The player is automatic in detecting most region 1 DVD's, but if it doesn't then it can be remote hacked as well
I have heard a lot of people talk about the noisy DVD drawer when...
