...Although the AMD K6 III+ 450MHz was designed for laptop use they can be used in Super Socket 7 motherboards as many of the major board makers have now released BIOS upgrades to support the CPU. The AMD K6 III+ 450MHz is available on auction sites such as eBay and QXL, but not in the shops as they are only released by AMD as OEM for the major laptop makers. The CPU is made using the 0.18 Micron process which is the same as the Duron range, the old K6 III series which is no longer available was made using the 0.25 Micron process. So as look as your board supports a Core voltage of 2.0, Multiplier of 4.5, FSB of 100MHz. It is also possible to overclock these processors to 600Mhz because of the 0.18 Micron process and the 2.0v Core voltage with the use of a good fan and heartsink. Advantages: has 3DFX Voodoo II chip, and you can link 2 cards together
Disadvantages: out of date drivers, too expensive and support is not up to todays standard

...I purchased a Monster II 8MB Graphics card for my systems about 1 year ago. I was pleased to see the updated drivers for the Graphics card when Direct x 6 was launched. When Microsoft launched the direct x 7 I thought great, then the 7a. The diamond help desk staff are rude, unhelpfull and hve not even updated the driver to Direct X 7 never mind 7a. I would say that now with all the other cards that are on the market, for half the price, This card is out of date, over priced and not worth buying. If you are thinking of a new Graphics card be aware that you can now buy a AGP Graphics card for less than £200 with 8 times the amount of memory offered buy this card. I would not recomend this card to anyone. Sorry Diamond but if you had of kept the drivers up to date then you may have had a reason for asking the money they do.... Read review

...When i was looking to upgrade my dog slow Cyrix processor, i wanted some speed in games but didn't want to spend the money on a new PII. I looked at AMD and was impressed by the specs of the chip, and so bought a [then] near top of the line K6-2 350. It is probably the best compnent change i have ever made, as i noticed an immediate improvement in the speed of my machine. Although half the price, my K6-2 was better than my friends PII 300, with similar graphics cards, but with one added improvement: Overclockability. Now i know the PII/III can be overclocked, but only by changing the bus speed- which affects the rest of the system, and if the rest of the sytem isn't up to it CRASH! With all socket 7's, however, you can change the bus multiplier, normally in increments of 0.5, to around 6. So my 350 went from 3.5x100mhz to 4.0x100... Read review
