If you are a young footballer who dreams of one day captaining your country in any sport or you had that dream when you were younger this book is a real eye opener.
The great Bill Shankley once said that football is more important than life or death , ask Tony Adams and he will probably laugh in your face.
The book starts with him telling you that he knew that as Gareth Southgate missed THAT penalty he would be drunk later that night , thus taking that first step to admitting that he was an alchoholic.
The book goes on to tell you how it all started , his football ,his drinking and general foolishness because of his drink.
It tells of his heartbreak of his prison sentence , when he let his family down , and how on his release he celebrated by falling down some nightclub steps.
This book does of course share with you the glory of being a successful footballer but it also highlights the pitfalls of when you have so much time to your self and have no idea how to spend it.
This is not about a man wallowing in self pity it is about a man drawing a line under his past and starting over again with a fresh start, and on the arms of Caprice - what a start !!!
