Addis Ababa as a travel destination

Advantages: Not touristy, inexpensive, interesting history, safe
Disadvantages: Poverty

If you are interested in a totally different experience, why not Ethiopia? We went to Ethiopia because it is an unusual destination, not many tourists, and has some unique history. When we arrived in Addis Ababa I got the shakes from the altitude (over 2,000 metres) but soon acclimatised. The altitude gives the capital city a very mild climate. The hotel we stayed in was called the Gedera and was surprisingly comfortable for the $15US a night we paid. The room was tidy with hot water and cable tv, and breakfast was included. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are a number of other hotels in the same price range, but if you want to spend more then you could stay at the lushous Sheraton Hotel. The dustbin baby by Jaqeline Wilson

Advantages: Suitable for adults as well as older children, and from a brilliant childrens novalist; deals with todays issues
Disadvantages: Is a bit of a tear jerker, and therefor only suitable for older children, teens and adults

This is the story of a girl called April who's mother abandons her and leaves her in a dustbin. She goes to a childrens home, but along the way has to deal with the consequenses of her mothers actions, though she does eventually get fostered. She gets bullied, and picked on in school, and because she was found on April fools day, is mocked and called 'April Fools.' On her 14th birthday, she decides that she should try to find her real mother. When she finds the place where she was dumped, she is surprised to find a message left for her - "please call baby" and a number. She goes looking for her mother, and when she finds her, she is surprised by what she is like. The premier container.

Advantages: Seals tight to stop food or liquids running out.
Disadvantages: You will find they are little more expensive.

This tub as mentioned earlier holds 0.7l of whatever it is you wish to ?contain?. The tub itself is around 4 ½? long, 3 ½ wide and around 2 - 3? deep, this is an ample size for a portion suitable for a 7 year old. When purchasing I recognised the ?Addis? name immediately, and compared to many of the other tubs available alongside this one, this outshone the others by miles. The container is made from rigid opaque plastic, with the lid being as thick but in a blue colour. When the lid is clicked in place the rim forms a tight seal around the top, unlike some others available I have complete confidence that this tub will not be leaking into my daughters backpack and ruin her vital coursework that can also be translated as random pieces of ?crap? that she always seems to be carrying with her!
