My experiences with this agency, who I have worked for over the last ten months, have been widely variable.

I went to them looking for temporary work, I was aware that my time living in Cardiff was likely to be short and I didn't want to take a permanent job. Adecco was one of a half dozen agencies I went to.

They were the first to call me in for evaluation, and they were efficient and helpful. That same afternoon they called about a placement, which I took. Not a terrible job with a fair pay for what it was.

I was there for a while, and when it came to Christmas, despite the fact that I don't think I was technically eligible for the holiday pay at that point I got it.

So ends the good part.

Shortly after Christmas I tired of the job and asked them to find me another one. After a week I'd heard nothing so I asked again, and again a fortnight later. Despite the fact that plenty of other jobs could be seen going through the office, and I'd said I'd take pretty much anything in the same approximate earnings range, I heard nothing.

This was bit vexing, it seems that as long as they have you in a placement, no matter how hard you ask, they seem reluctant to make the effort to look after you in this way.

A Couple of months ago a great looking job appeared in the window. I asked to be put forward, and spoke to the staff repeatedly, until they told me they were waiting for further info, and they'd contact me when they got it.

I can understand that there's every likelyhood that there was someone else suitable for the job, but I'd at least have liked to have heard a no, rather than to be left hanging.

In short, they seem eager to get you into a placement, but once you're there and earning the money, my experience has been that you are no longer worth the effort. I wouldn't recommend them for long-term work (Try Manpower for that), but in the short term they are very competitive.
