Having used Admiral now for a couple of years in order to insure my car, I would just like to write a bit of a review on them - not that I have ever had to contact them at all in any way for any real purposes, but I thought it would be nice to just share my own experiences of them for any of you lovely people out there who are currently looking to renew your car insurance.
I have just renewed with them again for the second year on the trot, last year being when I first went with them (and no now this is the start of my second year with them if you get me). Having had some issues with my previous car insurance policy (which are things that are actually in fact still outstanding but that is yet again the subject of another review), I decided to look about a bit and see what the best deal that I could actually get.
Of course having a claim on my existing car insurance policy owing to having had a car stolen, I knew that my premium would go up a little bit - although of course, this was the first in about ten years worth of driving that I have ever had to have claimed on a policy.
I had already seen many adverts on the television regarding this company, and so therefore I decided to make them one of my first points of contact. I was aware at the time of the various so called more ‘general websites’ such as Go Compare; Confused and so on, but thought that I would try out some of the actual sites in themselves first off - but all to no avail, as they all seemed to come out as being quite a lot more expensive at one point including this particular one.
However I was very mildly surprised at the time, as this particular one on its own website actually in fact came out as being one of the more expensive ones for the cover that I was looking for at the time compared to some of the others including the one that I wanted to get away from. Which led me on to some of the more general car insurance websites, so that I could take a look and see if I could get another more better (or rather cheaper!) deal.
But I was actually in fact very surprised, as on about three or four of these so called price comparison websites - Admiral came out within the top two all of the time! And in fact as they were mostly top, I decided to go with them last year - and I have just renewed with them, as they have in my own opinion provided me with quite a good service (but not that I have needed them very much though!).
My main problem came this year, when my car insurance renewal was due up at the start of March. I had my usual renewal quote through from them (as I have done with other such insurance companies in the past), but they told me in it that I wouldn’t actually need to do anything if I wanted them to carry on and to take the money out of my bank account as usual.
I thought nothing of this, but went online as you would do in order to look to see if I could get any quotes that were any cheaper. I didn’t, but that is besides the point but I was getting somewhat uptight as my renewal was due - and there had also been quite a large sum go from my account.
After a short period of time, I actually decided to contact Admiral again - and was very surprised by what they told me. Unless I had called them before my due date, they would take the money as normal - and the cover note for my insurance was actually included in the cover pack that I had bee sent about a month before. And so therefore without even realising it, I had been covered the whole time. They don’t send out any further documents, as unless they are told they will continue to process things as normal - and will cover you, unless you tell them otherwise.
This is my only real concern with them, however I would have to say that there have been no other real problems with them so far as I am concerned and so therefore if you are looking to check them out then go for it for your car insurance - but it is always worth as usual looking around a bit as you may get cheaper deals elsewhere.
Thanks for reading!
By the way, they do also do home insurance but I cannot really comment on that as I have not had to use that facility. If you so wish to know the overall website, then it is www.admiral.com
