A set of integrated tools for designers and developers, the Adobe GoLive / LiveMotion Pack addresses every step in your Web-creation workflow: animation and scripting, Web authoring, dynamic database connectivity, and asset and file management. Design freely with the familiar Adobe user interface, create scripted Macromedia Flash (SWF) artwork with support for ActionScript, and easily integrate and optimize content created in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software. Easily manage complex projects. Work more efficiently with team members by using the Adobe Web Workgroup Server for file and site management, versioning, and archiving. Reduce debugging time with powerful error-detection features. Automate and extend both programs with automation scripts, Live Tabs, and additional extensions and Actions available on the Adobe Xchange Web site. And use LiveMotion templates in GoLive software to automate development and updating of graphics and Flash (SWF) animations site-wide. Extend your reach with next-generation authoring and publishing features. Count on native support for scripting languages including ASP, PHP, and JSP to deliver personalized content for e-commerce sites. Design with WML, xHTML, or cHTML in a visual environment, instead of hand coding. Enjoy an XML-based cross-media workflow between Adobe InDesign software and GoLive. And create interactive animations for the Web, wireless devices, CD-ROM interfaces, presentations, and more.
Advantages: simple to pick up, same interface as photoshop Disadvantages: It's not free!
...An alternative to Flash? Could it be... well yes in a word. In the same way that GoLive is Adobe's answer to Macromedia's Dreamweaver, Livemotion is their answer to Flash.
Having tried the HTML authoring software, and concluded that GoLive was just as powerful as Dreamweaver but a 5 year old could use it, I went on to conclude that Livemotion was the very serious Mickey Mouse version of Flash...
It uses Macromedias trademark .SWF format files, and therefore produces 'Flash' files that play on any flash player... there's no difference. The working environment in Livemotion is, as with every adobe product, the same as photoshop! Either you love it or hate it. I personally love marmite so that's good...
It's got the same 30 day free trial as the Macromedia cousin, almost exactly the same features, it's just easier to figure...

Advantages: The best photo-editor on the market, new time-saving features. Disadvantages: Expensive, new version has few new creative tools, not good for home use.
...I've just spent £530 on a piece of software. Surprised? Don't be...
You see, I do a fair bit of freelance digital photography and I needed a professional photo-editing program. After trying a few cheaper alternatives, I splashed out on Abode Photoshop 7 with all the trimmings, but I now use it almost every day. For the price, I don’t recommend it for non-professionals, but pros will gain some really handy features on this new, improved version of the Adobe program.
The Adobe Photoshop 7.0Package
Here’s what you get for that ridiculously large some of money:
Adobe Photoshop 7 – The main program has the same layout as before and all the features you’d expect to find for professional photo-editing are here...

Advantages: Outstandingly elegant program Disadvantages: Less developers than Dreamweaver
...As Adobe Photoshop is widely looked upon as a standard tool for webdesigners, I thought that I would try out their rival to Dreamweaver, GoLive 5.0. First off I was impressed with the ease of installation, as once I had set the preferences for the browsers, it was ready to go, and just meant that I had to either create a new site or import an existing site.
The various toolbars have the Photoshop feel, so there was very little to get used to, and as such it was very easy to get going with. It also allows a more seamless integration of files from other Adobe applications (funny that!).
The site map provided when I imported my site was very easy to understand and there was an automatic link checking system. Indeed if you enter a page with a dead/faulty link for editting, then GoLive will actually highlight it for you so you know that...
