Adobe Photoshop CS3 Book for Digital Photographers - Scott Kelby

Advantages: Superb nugget sized tips, fits the camera bag nicely
Disadvantages: None

...for Scott's Adobe Photoshop TV weekly podcast. Most of these should be considered inspiration for further research by the reader though as they don't contain much real meat. I thought this was a great little book. The content is pure gold for the beginner to middle ground photographer and there are nuggets here which will make even fairly experiences readers think 'Ah ha!' It's small, it's easy to read, has great content and is reasonably priced. As such I can't recommend it highly enough. ...Infected - Scott Sigler. Please not Ciao....this is not an audio book. 'When you hear the voices it's already too late'. I have to say, I find writing book reviews particularly difficult. There is a thin line between enticing someone with enough plot and information to encourage them to read the book for themselves, and too much plot so that they pretty much don't need to read it. At just over 450 pages this is not too long, in fact I read it in 4 days, as one of my 'holiday books'. The cover was what initially attracted me to the book, and when I turned the book over, the short synopsis and recommendations from other authors persuaded me to purchase. Disadvantages: Some machines missing

...otherwise everything seemed accurate. (Can you tell I read it cover to cover?) The machines are presented in release date order providing an interesting overview of computer development during the period. A side effect of this is that some machines appear so glaring underpowered compared to their peers that one has to ask 'why did they bother?'. You may also do a double take on the IBM PC - a cassette port? Naturally there are some gaps, mainly due to lack of example machines in good enough condition to photograph or simply for space reasons. I would have liked to have seen the Enterprise 128, Sord M5 and the almost unknown DAI which I seriously considered against the Atari 400 when I was looking for my first computer back in 1980. Overall this is a fine book and Gordon Laing is to be congratulated on the breadth and accuracy... Read review
