I have recently been roped in to doing video editing for a local paper, and a little video recording and taking the odd photo. Has a lot to do with marrying the Content Editor and Web guru.
So after being faced with using a really outdated copy of premiere (5 or 6 I think) I bought myself this Premiere/Photoshop Elements package. I have to say that I'm glad I did.
First off I have a big Dual Core laptop (T8100 Pentium Processor, 3Gb RAM 2x320 Gb momentus Drives and a big Nvidia GT card) which is well over the requirements of this software. Secondly I bought from Amazon for under £90 for the package on special offer and thirdly I have had some experience of Premiere in the past.

version 3 I found version 4 needed quite a powerful PC to get the best out of it. It seemed to suffer particularly on systems with slow hard drives such as laptops. However, once it was up and running, it was snappy enough. It was only changing from one editing mode to another that seemed to hit it hard after that.
Conclusion
Version 3 was a huge jump over version 2. Version 4 is a more subtle change but still adds plenty of useful features. For many, the improved selection tools may swing it. For others, the improvements to the slideshow may be just what you're after. If you're still on version 1 or 2 or don't have it at all, AdobeElements 4 is in my opinion a must have for photographers and other image manipulators. ...

You see, I do a fair bit of freelance digital photography and I needed a professional photo-editing program. After trying a few cheaper alternatives, I splashed out on Abode Photoshop 7 with all the trimmings, but I now use it almost every day. For the price, I don’t recommend it for non-professionals, but pros will gain some really handy features on this new, improved version of the Adobe program.
