Advantages: Quick, easy to drive, Never lets you down Disadvantages: Key Fob
...the keys, paid the charge, to be then told the keys need to be replaced and also the infra red receptor!!!!!! For a little cost of £690.00 (gobsmaked). Decided against this and went to a dealer in the next town whom fiddled with the keys and to my amazement for a cost of £0 (Zero) the keys were working not one expensive part needed, I have written this as a major waring do not believe the first thing you hear from your dealer!!!!!...

Advantages: Comfort, power, luxury Disadvantages: Unreliable, gas-guzzler, expensive to maintain/fix
...I bought a 1995 BMW 740i less than a year ago for £2,690 in a private sale. Very little service history but looked in good nick and price was lower than the official valuation of these cars of this age.
Since purchase I have had to visit a mechanics at least a half-dozen times, for amongst other things:
1. Steering wheel tremor (due to buckled alloys).
2. Power-steering fluid leak.
3. Air-con not working.
During one visit the key no longer started the car so I had to order a new one from BMW - £81 plus some terrible customer service (from BMW Nine Elms in Battersea, London).
Now recently it overheated as there was mysteriously no fluid left in the radiator hence yet another visit to the mechanics is due.
There's no doubting that these cars are fantastic when they run OK - lots of power under-foot, smooth and easy handling...

Advantages: Cheap , Farmer-Proof, Basic Disadvantages: It could do with a 406 hdi engine, Watch this space!!
...The pug 106 is a wee dream to own.
Before it I had a Seat Toledo, another fine car, but I decided to go out under my own name in insurance, Dangerous ground for a young fella like myself iin Northern Ireland.
The wee Pug is a great motor. The diesel engine is pokey enough if you need it and as easier on diesel as a bicycle (nearly)! Mine, a 1998 Look plus, was bought for £690 a few months back with 81000 miles. Admittedly theres a few bumps and scratches where children have used iot to practice their penalties against. mechanically the cars sound . Ok a replacxement dash was installed as the fuel guage wasnt working, PCB fault, but I could still be pottelling about without the guage. Driving by the mile clock is much more interesting. To get the car through its MOT two new tires were alll that was required to replace the originals...
