Being young myself and also enjoying more powerful cars, I have the age old problem of insuring them!!
We all know that motor insurance is always on the up and most of us would probably just be as bold as to say, a complete rip off!
How can they justify charging you the car's value, just to insure it for a year?? Well, the simple fact is that they do!
As soon as I turned 17 and passed my test, my attention turned to what car I could afford......I soon discovered that it wasn't a case of what car I could afford but what car I could afford to insure. The buying of the car is no problem......you can pick up an Escort Cosworth for as little as £10K, but try insuring it under the age of 25 and you'll be paying between half and all of that just to insure it for a year.
I also found out that premiums vary wildly from one insurance company to the next. One company was quoting £3500 for my first car, which I eventually got down to £1000 with a little shopping around - and that is exactly what you have to do. It can pay dividends to spend an afternoon with a list of insurance companies, phoning one after the other, playing their quotes off against one another.
Insurance premiums are bad enough as it is. However being younger is more of a problem and probably only a quarter of the insurance companies will touch high risk drivers.

Adrian Flux Insurance Services (08700 765450) are specialists in this field. Apparently, so a friend who is in insurance told me, they monopolise the classic car insurance industry and put most of that business the underwtiters way. Classic cars are rarely driven and therefore less often crashed, therefore less claims. The underwriters give Adrian Flux high discounts as a result of this and they choose to apply these discounts to the young person/high risk car group.
I have no idea how much truth there is in this claim - the person who told me has been in insurance for quite a while and has no reason to lie. Besides this, even if it weren't true, it wouldn't matter because whatever they do to get premiums down, they do it well.
I consistently find them the most competitive when quoting. No-one ever beats them (when I'm looking anyway!) Re: my renewal last year, they beat the next best company by £400. I find that quite impressive. The service is spot on, the staff know what they are talking about and certainly most of them know about performance cars. They even have a credit facility so you can pay monthly.....
I don't work for them, and have nothing to gain by directing customers their way. I am just happy with what they do and think they deserve recognition. If you fall into the same group as me, give them a try, you could make big savings like I did, and make the difference between insuring the car you want and not!
Advantages: Price or is it Disadvantages: Everything else
...the majority negative. Adrian Flux are good on price - however this is a false econmy. The customer service levels are far below what is required by the FSA. They have many hidden charges and if these are query or disputed cover is withdrawn with a very short notice period and if a full premium is paid large chunk is retained. I have used this company for the past four years however upto now it has just been get a quote and pay a premium.
Now I ... ...they have ignored the terms and conditions as laid out by the underwriter. I have spoken to the FSA and Financial Ombudsman and having sought legal advice from a contract lawyer am taking legal action against this so called independent financial services company. They have stated in a letter to me from their customer relations department (with whom you can never speak) that they are in fact a collecting agent for insurance companies.
Avoid this ...

Advantages: Price, not afraid of high risk drivers, not afraid of non standard cars Disadvantages: Poor service, expensive add ons, rude customer service agents, length of time on hold is horrendous
...a quote for £1,600 from Adrian Flux which was considerably lower than all of the other quotes. Impressed by the price, I said yeah, and there was 12 months insurance sorted out.
Problems began a week later, when I got a letter from them telling me they weren't going to insure me unless I had a Thatcham approved alarm fitted within seven days. This is AFTER I had told them on the phone that the only alarm on it was the standard Rover one. Bang goes ... ...know that much about some modifications.
Overall, if you have trouble getting insurance because of your claims or driving history then Adrian Flux will be worthwhile as they'll be one of the few companies to touch you, but be warned, don't expect first class service for the standard fare! ...

...previously held a policy with Adrian Flux and must say that I found the whole experience of having a policy with them to be a complete nightmare.
There staff were on more than one occasion less than helpful and I spent what seemed to be hours on hold on the phone attempting to get various problems resolved. I have listed below some of the main problems encountered:
1. Continuation cover notes were not automatically issued my Adrian Flux so I had ... ...the direct debit charges. Adrian Flux use a company called Can-Do Finance who basically pay the insurer the full annual premium for the policy which they then collect from you monthly. The price of the policy was £448 plus direct debit surcharge for the year, I paid a £90 deposit, £180 in monthly instalments and had to pay a further £60 at time of cancelletion to clear the finance. This means I ended up paying £330 for a 5 month policy!!
Clearly ...

Advantages: Guarantee to beat a better quote from another company Disadvantages: The same problem as everybody else, amount of time you are on hold!
I found Adrian Flux insurance about 6 years ago when 'searching for cheaper car insurance' and I've renewed with them every year since. As a broker they check their panel of 36 insurance companies (which could be why you are so long on the phone) and do seem to have the customer in mind when finding competitive quotes. With over a 100 different schemes the offer cover for everything from family cars to American hot rods. Their renewal quotes have ... ...I tend to go for the performance side of the market) and if I do find a quote cheaper the will always beat it. They provide the usual extra's such as legal protection, breakdown cover, courtesy car while yours is been repaired etc.
I'm afraid I couldn't tell you what the speed and how helpful they are at processing claims as I've not needed to make a claim so far (have I just jinxed that? The wood table is being touched). The staff are friendly ...

Quick review of Adrian Flux Insurance Review ofAdrian Flux Insuranceby

After getting a fantastic quote for our vehicle we were over the moon, it nearly halved other quotes we had received. However after a few weeks we recieved a letter telling us our agreement had terminated as they had not recieved our photographs. WE DID SEND PHOTOS BUT THEY DID NOT RECIEVE THEM! THEY SAID THE POSTAL STIKES WERE OUR PORBLEM NOT THEIRS! We offered to send some new ones but they flatly would not co-operate. BEWARE CHEAP COMPANIES ARE CHEAP FOR A REASON, I WOULD HATE TO HAVE HAD TO CLAIM WITH THEM AS THEY ARE HURREDOUS COMMUNICATORS!! BEWARE!!!!

You need to see it to understand - leave me your email and i'll send a pickie or two...

...day, out and about, where as you will now see plenty of people driving around in a Subaru.
Pros:
-Almost supercar-like acceleration
-Almost rallycar-like grip
-Almost unbelievable price
-Sports car with 5 seats !!
-Certain to attract lots of attention
Cons:
-Racing bucket seats can become uncomfortable on long journeys
-Sky-High Insurance premiums due to being group 20 ( however, I recommend AdrianFlux - cheapest I could find saved me nearly £1,000 on other 'best' quotes )
-Police officers seem to like to stop them quite often.

Advantages: Economical, Strong, Cheap & Not Boxy Disadvantages: it's too clean! it's Green & it's showing it's age!
...boots after off-Roading.
Insurance:
The Frontera SWB is a Group 12 and You can get Very Reasonable Priced Cover from AdrianFlux. (These guys include Off-Roading,Green Lane Driving and Fording in the Insurance!)
Security:
This Frontera has the Standard Immobilizer fitted but can be Modified to accept anything available as long as it's legal, safe and preferably Thatcham Grade 2 or better
Engine:
There are quite a few engine sizes 2.0i (sport) to 3.2i V6 and the choice between Petrol, Diesel & some are LPG now. I have the 2.8TDi Isuzu Engine in the Sport so it does struggle a bit on constant gradients But I cannot complain yet as it hasn't let me down
When it mattered .... Off-Road !!
Fuel:
(Mine) I can get 600 miles from the tank sometimes but with the rising costs on Fuel I'm looking into Modifications to further increase...
