...Excel 97 was one of the best spreadsheet packages available. Excel has always been a strong spreadsheet with an easy interface, good isntructions and wizards to help. The wizards in particular were a good feature of 97 and were a big improvement from version 6. There were wizards for invoices, tax returns etc. The instructions received the biggest upgrade from 6 to 97, the assistant made the help interface much easier to use. The biggest new feature in 97 was all the built in macros and macro interface. 6 hardly had any of that. Linking spreadsheets to other files and programs made 97 much morew powerful, a great product....

Advantages: Looks amazing.. very fast.. rarely crashes Disadvantages: You need alot of memory and a powerful computer to run
...I hadnt heard alot about Windows XP but a friend was raving about it so i purchased it. i then discovered it was unbelieveably simple to install i didnt have to do anything compared to other operating systems.
the GUI looks fantastic and for such amazing looks it runs fantasticly Quickly (54% faster than windows ME and 47% faster than windows 98 second edition)
the desktop is completely customisable so you can have everything as you want it and you can even change the start button to say something different
the only Big downside is the remote assistance can be a bit of a security risk, any decent hacker knowing what he/she was doing could connect to your computer while you are online due to the remote assistance connecting style.
all in all a great opperating system....

Advantages: So easy to use. Great quality output. Can't live without it! Disadvantages: If you want to upgrade when newer versions come out, it's expensive.

Paint Shop Pro 5 must be one of the most frequently used programs on my system. It has a simple interface but a number of more advanced features on a par with professional design packages. Graphic output in any form is great quality, and the software is just so easy to use. I have tried branching out into other graphic programs to assist me in web design but I always return to PSP. It's my staple diet, and there is absolutely no way I could live without it.
It's so easy to use and I know it like the back of my hand. Unlike many good-quality programs, it doesn't take six weeks of wading through manuals before it all makes sense -- you can just jump right in. Definitely recommended....
